Thanks for the quick reply. It does look like maybe the movie versions aare a teensy bit exaggerated.

Hehe, my favorite weapon would have to be the Gun-mace, it was a gun fashioned with the head of a mace so that it could be fired at long range but also used in close combat. I saw a picture of it in a medieval weapons book once, i believe it belonged to Henry VIII. either way it was awesome :)

My melee weapon would have to be the hand and a half sword. My ranged weapon would be a longbow, though I'm really in love with the shape oof the horsebow.

I've loved all (non-cross) bows since I first saw them. Probably before that even. :P They're my favorite weapon of all time. Doesn't matter whether they're Longbows, Composite, Saxon shortbows, Korean, whatever.

But those fancy Olympic and other modern bows just don't cut it.

I agree completely with everything smcginnis just wrote.

I particularly like the Mongolian recurve bows (did you know it takes around a year to make just one :o )

I hate crossbows. IMO they are ugly, undignified weapons. Compared with longbows they have shorter range, less accuracy and take 25-30 seconds longer to reload. They also need less skill. It takes years to be able to shoot a bow well. You could have the same level of skill with a crossbow in a week.

I would say my favorite weapons were the longbow and the crossbow. Also, I really enjoy the short sword dagger combination for some reason...
