Hi, i have found this site, http://www.glyphweb.com/arda/ very useful when reading the different works of Tolkkien.

I remember the first time I read Silmarillion (how the world came to be and it's history), i had difficulties remembering who was what and when this and that occurred. Also, when reading for instance the Hobbit and the books about the ring, it is very rewarding when you understand the depth of the history and the relation different people have to these events.
For instance, Aragorn helped Bilbo to complete his song, !Eärendil was a mariner... before the council of Elrond and wanted to include something about a silmarill etc that bilbo did not guess why.
Anyway, Tolkien wrote about the stories these things refer to and it is enhancing to be able to understand them and read the background of things. (btw . Eärendil was Elronds father, and his father was a man. his descendants could choose if they wanted to be counted as men or elves. Elronds brother Elros chose to be counted as men and became the first King of Númenor, from who the Kings of Gondor and Aragorn and descend)

Anyway. It is not always easy to find stuff from a book, and therefore i find the Encyclopedia or Arda very useful.

I guess that could be useful for quick reference, even though I recommend going to the sources for those who have a deeper interest.

However, this one doesn't really concern LEGO stories as such and thus it shall be moved.

Yes i totally agree. What i meant was that if you are reading something and would like to look up details that you have read but don't have time to find where, it comes in handy.

I was not sure wether i belonged in Medieval Life or stories, but since the thread http://classic-castle.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=13871 had been moved to Stories, i assumed that was the place for talking about literature.
But perhaps that thread also belong here.

I never knew of this site and it seems very useful, Its very similar to the middle earth portal on wikipedia but it has more colour and things.

Huh. I just finished reading the Hobbit and starting the Fellowship of the Ring. This is will be useful.
