fantasy, medieval life or both
We all know that Lego Castle is based around fantasy but I was wondering what people think would you prefer fantasy, actual medieval life or both.

Re: fantasy, medieval life or both
I prefer both. They both have their charm, they both have their esthetic and play values, and in my opinion they can be combined too.
having a dragon and some undead trolls attack a realistic looking castle is beyond awesome

Re: fantasy, medieval life or both
I chose both. I prefer fantasy, but a Medieval moc is just as fun!

Re: fantasy, medieval life or both
I think even the more medieval-set and lifelike Castle themes have always been a little romanticised anyway, so further delves into full-blown Fantasy is alright I think. I like both aspects of the theme.
That said, hopefully TLG can go in the complete opposite direction of Fantasy when this current them ends?

Re: fantasy, medieval life or both
I doubt it will really ever end. Children tend to prefer the excitement and adventure of fantasy to the things that make medieval life awesome to build.

Re: fantasy, medieval life or both
see I like fantasy because of the lord of the rings but I like The medieval period because I am the sort of person who likes and has a knack for history.

Re: fantasy, medieval life or both
Thank you! The good news is, with the release of the Medieval Market Village set, we may can assume that eventually, we may get a little of both worlds. TLC has tried to cater to AFOLs in the past with sets like the Taj Mahal, but maybe this means they are starting to understand the interests of AFOLs a bit more.gormadoc1 wrote:you have a very good point.

you are right I never thought of it like that before, so perhaps soon we can have the best of both worlds.

Re: fantasy, medieval life or both
I put both, but what I'd really like to see is more historically accurate fantasy. That is, rather than fantasy sets based on something out of the set designers' heads vaguely influenced by Tolkien*, Dungeons and Dragons, etc., I'd like to see fantasy based on things that the actual medievals would have believed in or told stories about, e.g. the sorts of things that are in Beowulf or the Aberdeen Bestiary.

Bruce,
It has been years since I saw that Bestiary. Have you seen the Queen Mary Psalter? Some neat mythical creatures in it as well. I think it is on the BL online imagines to boot.
I agree it would be nice to have some subthemes a bit more 'medieval' but I do not mind as long as they do not get too silly.

Re: fantasy, medieval life or both
The day of Judgement has passed and the people chose that Fantasy and medieval life together (otherwise both) is to be the better of the two. So hopefully we can say that this is definetley the peoples favourate. Thank you all for participating and commenting on this poll, it was very good of you to take time to contribute towards this thread.
