Castle birthday cake

Post by Ye Olde Republic »

My wife made our son, Grady, a castle themed cake for his fourth birthday. She used rice krispies/marshmallows as her medium. It looked pretty awesome as it really looked a lot like stone. It got a little bit 'leany' when she put it on the cake but that added a bit to the cartoony charm of it. He was very excited about it and it got me thinking that we should try doing a more realistic castle for a craft show later this year.

Trust me, I think I'm funnier than you do.
Why do I have to add the word "minifig" to my spell checker every time I use it?!

This looks excellent Trev, and i'm sure it tasted even better.

When I was younger my mum made me a pirate island cake, with the sponge as the rocks and then green icing on top. Blue icing was around the base and up the sides to act as the waves. On top were TLG pirate minifigs, palm trees and monkeys. :)

I might have a photo somewhere of it.

I can understand why Grady "almost wet his pants" upon seeing this! Man, it looks fantastic. I would hate to eat it though, as I would freeze it, so I could have it forever. :eyebrows: It does look...tasty...though... :tasty:
