Bunratty Castle Question

Post by legokilt »

Folks,
Does anyone out there know of any book or website that has a good floor plan for Bunratty Castle in Ireland? I have spent some time searching for it and am not finding anything that is clear enough to make a good MOC from. Thanks in advance for the help.

I'm not sure what you mean. When I did a quick search of Google I found countless photos of the castle in question. Are you looking for something more specific (floor plans perhaps) or interior photos? Heck, even Dr. Carney has built this fine castle twice. Bunratty is a fairly large castle so MOCing it will require a good number of bricks, however I don't see how finding source imagry is going to be a problem unless you are looking to do a historically accurate interior. In that case, don't forget that the castle has seen many renovations since the middle ages and probably bares little resemblance to it's original form.

Good luck on your build.

I might be missing something, but didn't he specifically ask for a floor plan?

Thanks for the response blueandwhite. I was unable to find a floor plan for the castle, but your link to Dr. Carney''s page has the plans. I have been wanting to build a MOC that is based off of an historic castle as opposed to my own imagination and I have several friends who were raised practically in the shadow of that castle so I thought it was a good choice. Once it is built, I will make sure to post the pictures of my MOC. Thanks again.
