I was just surfing around the new maj.com (essentially Geekshelf revisited) and Repoort Enolc has a good gallery of castle-relevant pics from his recent Germany trip:

This kind of reminds me of Jojo's church (link below)

I wonder if his creation is based off of this building or if it is just coincidence. Either way, both his creation and the real thing look rather nice.

Hello!

The yellow halftimbered house is in Meersburg at the Lake Constance. I have to admit I'm not sure where most of the other buidings in s'repoorT enolC folder are located...

Doctor S, I was not inspired by this particular door. I was rather inspired by the door of the Schlosskirche in Wittenberg, though I only saw a pic of this door after I had already built my model.

Jojo,

Correct, we visited most of Southern Germany, and were based in Freiburg and Munich. But I think the trip to Lake Constance was the best. I'm not sure why though..

This doesn't seem like the wisest way to store these... I'd hate to be the last guy to get to the armory in the event of an attack.

I'm sure those were only hung up on the wall like that long after they became millitarily obselete. But I bet you knew that and were just trying to be a jerk/funny.

Yes, I did know that. It was a joke... a dumb one, but a joke nonetheless. I wasn't trying to be a jerk though. I really hope that no one gets that impression of me.
Still, I wonder if those are hung up on hooks. Every authentic suit of armor I've ever seen has been fully supported from the inside with a mannequin of sorts. If they are on hooks, that's an awful lot of stress to be putting on a piece so old.

I agree, it is strange to see the armor like that on the wall, and not in stands. It would be terrible if one fell, especially if it were on top and took a few others with it.

Quite a few, actually. The Cleveland Museum of Art has an armory, which includes several full suits of armor, 2 (?) sets of horse armor, swords, polearms, shields, mail, early firearms, etc. You name it, they've got it, and it's all authentic. Definitely worth a look if you're in the area.

The museum has one of the largest collections of armor in America, and since they revamped the galleries a few years ago, much more of the collection is actually on display

I hate to post a little off topic, but The metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City has a great exhibit of armor and weopons.
