When you think about it's obvious that the dragon would be some sort of dinosaur.

This is cool. You really have to wonder WHY does every culture seem to have myths of the Dragons?

From Chi-Yu (China), Quetzalcoatl (Maya/Aztec), Naga (SE Asia), to Fafner (Scandinavian).

Dragons being flying dinosaurs (presumably what the series is pitching them as) is not that farfetched. After all, there were large flying reptiles, and the birds of today, are evolutionary descendants of some dinosaurs (so they say). I don’t know how they are going to explain the fire part, that will be interesting!

They said that the fire part comes from the Hydrogen producing bacteria in the dragon's gut. Its gets mixed with platinum or some other element that the dragons consume to create a flaming chemical reaction.

Considering that herbivore dinosaurs did eat rock to help grind the grass in their gut. I don't see how they would be unable to get that platinum element.

As for flamable gases produced by bacteria... a form of methane gas is produced by the bacteria in our large intestine.

Im guessing that most cultures at one point or another discovered dinosaur bones in the ground & that probably led them to believe that giant dragonlike creatures existed.

I personally think that all the cultures thought that dragons were reall, because they were. Thre WERE flying dinosaurs so why not dragons? I personally really love dragons. The intrest me. So when I saw this ad while watching Animal Planet, I just couldn't resist seeing what it was all about.

Yeah, when I first saw the ad on TV I made the same mistake. Then I saw the premier date on the internet, needless to say I was pretty bummed. oh well, I'm a patient guy. I can wait......I hope

Of course, this doesn't explain how they kept from inflicting horrible burns upon themselves every time they breathed fire.

Ever see how fire breathers do it? You know, drink a mouthful of beer or wine and spit it out next to a fire. They don't get burned (because) the fire they breathe out lasts for 1 second at most, which is not enough time to cause a burn on their lips.

Besides... snakes and scorpions have venom, monitor lizards or "Komodo Dragons" have bacteria laced saliva... yet the "weapons" these animals have doesn't affect them, because its their nature to develope a tolerance or even resistance to their own deadly weapon.

Well, I imagine that it's tough to develop a resistance to bursting into flames...
The reason fire spitters don't get burnt is because if they're good enough, only the the mist that they expel into the air is going to ignite. Even then, there is a risk of blowback, and the fire-cloud can ignite any fuel remaining in and around the mouth.
Now, why shouldn't a dragon be able to do the same? The difference lies in the fact that while a fire-spitter uses a torch to ignite the mist while it's already in the air, a dragon would have to have internal means. That means that the fuel would actually be burning while inside the animal's mouth, so unless the fuel burns at a very low temperature, the dragon is inevitably going to get burnt.

Not necessarily , the dragons might have some fire proof guts, protecting all the internal organs. I mean the human stomach is pretty tough to withstand stomach acid. Its possible that the fire organ and all the wall of the pipes leading to mouth of a dragon are made out of some fire resistant material.
