Its a new TV show on ABC channel that is a period drama show. It focuses on Octavius, Julius Caesar's nephew.

The mini-series starts on June 28.

----

Finally, a new show on ancient times. I think its the first since the end of the Xena and Hercules tv shows.

I first saw this when I was hanging at my girl's house and saw the commercial for it.

ABC? Roman drama? What could possibly go wrong? I'm sorry, but to me this looks like it has failure written all over it with a ten unciae Sharpie.

It happens usually but they're bound to make something good at least once in a while. It looks promising.

My faith isn't too strong on these kinds of shows. Period drama mostly likely won't do as well as period action shows like Hercules, and Xena.

True. There was also Robin Hood, SinBad, Conan and Beastmaster.

I know! They should make a reality show!Something tells me I shouldn't have said that.

Interesting too see, Im not sure how it will go, but nontheless the actor playing Octavius is quite alike the real one.

Its a very action-packed era in roman history so it will be interesting to see how it goes.

Reality show? Like what bring back "American Gladiators", but this time with actual gladiatorial combat?

Hopefully, they can make some battle scenes here and there.

I've been writing them for years about this.

I saw this one day too late. Yesterday was the 28th  . Is this a TV series or a single show? Cause then I can watch the sequal episodes. :D

It is a five-part miniseries. I watched the first episode yesterday, it was all right, but there were definitely some slow parts to it. The costumes are great and the few action scenes we did get were nicely done. The acting as expected of a summer TV series with no known actors was at best passable. I may watch episode 2 before I make final judgement though.

I kept expecting to see Steve Reeves in this hokey swords and sandals pot-boiler. Or maybe Russell Crowe since a certain amount of the look was based on Gladiator. Hopefully there will be an exciting injection of warfare and hedonism real soon.

Saw the first episode.

They are either moving too fast to tell a good, detailed story, or too slow because they are trying to create drama in the wrong places.

I can't decide.

It looks to me like they put together a demographics checklist, then tried to build a story around it.

--Strong fighter / one-man-army to appeal to men: check
--empowered woman / virgin who needs no man, to appeal to the femminists: check
--cute young hearthrob for the young-teen girl set: check
--ancient setting with enough historical background, to appeal to the history channel watchers: check
--power-mad senators conspiring to kill the popular Ceasar, to appeal to disgruntled politicos: check

--plot........ nevermind that, we have a hit on our hands!
