My advice would be to play HoMM III over II. II introduced some stuff that was better implemented in III, to be quite honest. And anything that is unbalanced is defintely not my fault (which sounds like a joke, but I was really good at balancing things in games).

My job at New World was Producer/Designer. Exactly what I did is harder to explain since I was hired in anticipation of New World changing hands from the useless NTN (makes of those computer trivia games in bars) to a new buyer, but that took a while, so the new project I was to head kept being put off and I did all sorts of fill-in work (producing third party software, writing, manuals, scenario designs). Then we finally got sold to 3D0 and I was green-lighted to design Might and Magic Online. Alas, 3DO started hemoraghing money so fast that they dumped everyone they could that wasn't on a project nearing completion (they turned out to be a complete parasite).

Actually, I'd rather go for Age of Empires 2 rather than one. Don't play AOE 1 if you've already played AOE 2.

Okay, so TES3 wasn't that much of a story, but I really liked the ideas and weapons and armor; and the ability to create your own. It could've been a lot better, but it's still pretty good for a Fantasy RPG. I'm eagerly awaiting Oblivion.

Heroes of Might and Magic III: Complete (Macintosh, Windows)

Excellent Game. I even ran a fan site for it, but I haven't really updated it in a few years now.


Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance (GameCube)

Great strategy game. 9th Fire Emblem game ever made, but only the third one to be released outside of Japan. The other two English language versions are for Game Boy Advance. Game is like a novel with strategic battles in every chapter. Storyline is actually pretty good. (Something I rarely say about video games)


Battle for Wesnoth (Mac OS X, Windows, Unix, Linux, maybe more)

Looks like I enjoy turn-based strategy games. This is a great game. It's open-source. It's a free download, and I even submitted a (code) patch that was accepted by the game's developers. Addictive and fun. It will probably run on whatever operating system your computer is running. Try it out.

I've been playing through Fable lately, and it's a good, rich game with lots to see and do. It's addictive to do it one way and then go back with a different character to play a different way--there's both a Good and Evil track in it, and both are enjoyable.

SHOGUN Total War??!!??!?!!

Man, I gotta try that one. What's it like? I think it was Age of Empire or something like that that was supposed to have stuff about the famous Korean Admiral Yi Sun-Shin in it. Does anyone know if it does or not? (I like Sir Yi! But not Won Kyun! Grrr! Traitor!)

I play the Civil War Generals II game, and that is all as to computer games (although I love to terrorize whoever will challenge me on my ancient PS 1 in Army Men...heh heh heh....). Are the medieval total war games, the shogun one, and the rome one similar to this (if anyone has played it)? Thanks!

I just got Age of Empires III a month ago. Im kinda disappointed at their selection for Expansion civilizations.

Two words: The Hobbit.

I LOVE that game! The graphics are good, but not good enough to scare anyone. And it follows the book so well!

I like playing Battle for Middle Earth. It's pretty cool because the cavalry can ride over infantry and you can upgrade all of your units with things like fire arrows. It's pretty cool. If anyone else plays PM me and maybe we can play online sometime.

You should totally try Arcanum, made by the same people and a bit more on topic. It's a Baldur's Gate-style world progressed to the beginning of the Industrial Revolution, whilst still maintaining the old-world, magical end of things. That's right, elven knights in full plate with magic swords and mechanical spider side-kicks...

Has all the aspects you probably like about the Fallouts, too!

I haven't actually played many medieval games, however I really enjoy the age of empires games. It's been a while, I may have to check out some of these games y'all ahve listed here.

Yeah, try it out! I must add, you will want to download it if you are really interested in medieval fantasy; you'll see the obvious races (humans, elves, dwarves, orcs, goblins, ogres, trolls, undeads) and a lot of uncommon ones (merfolk, nagas, drakes, lizardmen, woses). Check it out only if you want to become addicted, because you will!

warcraft 2 + the expansion
these got me into the whole RTS games. they're like playing a cartoon. how could you not love that?

AOE 1+2 + the expansions for both:
these rock, I still play them from time to time, my favorites are to play as the Romans or Carthagenians in 1, and Vikings or Teutonic Knights in 2

Baldurs gate + the expansion. While not really into things like this, it was still a lot of dang fun, until I learned the cheat codes, and then it was too dang easy to cheat. then of course it lost its appeal.

Stronghold
Great game, I still really like it, want to play the new one Stronghold 2, but my slow computer won't play it.

Stronghold:Crusader
deserves its own spot. its probably the game I play the most when I play computer games at all anymore (in my copious amounts of free time ) I love the way this game plays, I love the farmers, the quarry men, the strategy. Crusader Rocks!

Recently I dug out all my RTS games for my boyo, and now he is as into them as I am. (non castle related games, are Starcraft, C&C (everything from the original to Tiberian Sun, including the Dune2k) a couple of mech games, things like that - Starcraft is still my favorite though, followed by Red Alert 2!)
