This is another movie about the famous Battle of Thermopylae. By just reading the description on Yahoo! Movies it already seems very hollywood/historically inaccurate. But you can't deny how cool the trailer is...

That was horrible! A prime example of how Hollywood misinterprets history.

The only historical thing I noticed was the mention of Sparta fighting Persia. As a movie, though, the trailer is very well put together.

I a Fan of Frank Miller comics, while yes very un-accruate, I going to go see the movie.It looks very well done.

Another historical movie...the subject matter sounds good, and we could get something really great out of this. I'm hoping this will be less Braveheart (shudder) and more Gladiator in its historical themes.

...though knowing Hollywood, we'll probably get the spineless Athenians 'betraying' the Spartans to be slaughtered or something stupid like that. :roll:

Still, I'll see it, for curiosity's sake, if nothing else. Having seen the fantastic Kingdom Of Heaven Director's Cut recently, I have some faith in the film-makers to produce something worthwhile.

This trailer certaily don`t interrests me, seems like a bad movie to my till now

It's not a remake of the older "The 300 Spartans"... it's a friggin Comic Book turned movie... so calm down.

Although personally, they should get together some actors who are familiar with the "big battles genre" of movies like Orlando Bloom and remake the Battle of Thermopylae in a more HISTORICAL context instead of fantasy/myths.

Then again, the only thing historical about events in the past is that they are written down as such. We weren't there personally, so why call it "inaccurate".

History is written by the victors, so whose to say some details were changed.

Well, my first reaction, is, well, to say "well..."

Miller knows iconcanographic imagery. He wrote "The Dark Knight Returns" about the end of Batman's legendary cycle, and "Sin City." This looks hyper-realized in the vein of how Peter Jackson depicted LOTR. "Based upon actual events" is the warning it should carry. The trailer looks great, but then again this could be the best 60 seconds of the entire film. I didn't read the graphic novel, so I'll wait until it comes out. May just be a "renter." Here's hoping for the best.

It seems extremely inaccurate, but still very flashy and having lots of special effects. I might have to go see it.

Edit

It seems almost magical, with the flying fireballs, and the gild floating in wisps of mist. Also, I seem to detect some anti-Arab feelings from the trailer. All of the macho good-looking people are the Spartans, and it depicts the Persians as deformed, ugly, and dirty.

Hollywood takes history and twists it around and flips it. There all wrong, (exept for a few exeptions)

You guys are missing the point that
1) comic book movie!!!
2) hollywood generally dosen't care about the historical value, they tweak everything to make it epic so they sell more films
3) its kinda pointless to critique hollywood's historical accurracy anyway

I think I would watch it. Not everything has to be historically accurate. Sometimes I just want to be entertained and not be given a history lesson.
