Well, I finally saw 300. It was definately as good as people had been telling me, and while there was a lot of gore, there was actually not as much as I would have thought.

Overall, I thought that this was an excellent movie! It sucked me into it in a way that hasn't happened in a loooong time.
Well... I thought Thermopylae was Greece versus Persia... not Greece versus Mordor... but I guess you learn something new every day
Remember, you're supposed to sympathise(sp?) with the 300 dead Spartans, not the 10,000's of dead Persians.

I just went to see it at the Imax. It was spectacular, and definately worth the extra money.

Do you know why the Persians looked so monsterous and Mordor-ish?

Well... take note of the chronicler/story teller, and you'll know why. The whole movie was basically told from his point of view, (Gorgo's scenes could've been from her retelling of what happened when the 300 were away).

Anyway, they never show up close the ACTUAL Persians whom they fought in Platea, just the ones the 300 fought in Thermopylae, which keep in mind, is a story being told by the Captain (guy with eye patch).

I think the movie is pretty cool. I haven't seen it yet, but trailers and MV's of 300 give a lot of footage. The Hot Gates battle is the coolest, IMO.
