BLUE BASEPLATE...

Post by Green Fox »

Am I correct in saying that S@H were selling until very recently a 32X32 blue baseplate? I am building a big castle on a lake and I need some blue. Should I get Doc Ock(euugh...)'s hideout just for the base?

They sold out of blue base plates many months ago, and they don't seem too interested in producing more. Tis a shame.

Does Bricklink have any? I'm sure they'd be expensive, but cheaper than the 50 for Doc Ock's hideout. However, if you ever found the Hideout on sale, depending on the price I know I'd probably look into it. In addition to the blue baseplate, I've found (looking at the pictures) many pieces that aren't "standard" for castles or castle-type buildings, but pieces that every so often you'd use. For example, the pieces used in Doc Ock's robotic arms seem like they'd be useful for a number of creatures, most prominent of them, a small dragon (as the limbs, neck, or tail).

Those, of course, are just my thoughts, and my guess is that many people wouldn't agree with me. Still...consider it!

I still hope I can get a couple Hideouts real cheap. The tentacles will help with my brick-built-beasts...

I have a Doc Ock figure. The tentacles are very well done. They would work great for mythic creatures.

You can get these at Target Fred Meyer, and I think Walmart. I was at those stores on Saturday and I saw them.

You mean I can get those really cheap at those places, or they have Hideouts period there?

I know you can get them, period. As to the prices, they seemedto be the same as the S@H prices. You wouldn't have to pay shipping, however. So, in a way, they are cheaper.

I hope this answers your question.

Here is another lot:

It doesn't end for 3 or 4 days, though.

Let me know if you want this one, because I'm also interested in it. If you want it, I can wait for the next one. I'm the patient type.

Just a thought, but you can get new blue 4x4 plates for as low as $0.07 a piece on Bricklink. Using 64 of them you have the equivalent of a 32x32 baseplate for about $4.48. :D

Also, they are more versitile then the baseplate in that you could give your water some texture instead of just flat. Of course you would need a cheap-o basplate or something to hold them together  .

Anyway that is what I am using for the water around my castle. Another benefit is that I don't need the plates to be blue under the castle so I need less then the 64 pieces per baseplate
Let them come...
They will break upon this fortress like water on rock!
