I'm going ahead with this with just the people who have responded. Box is going out Monday, 8 Aug to first recipient. If you want on the list (you'll be added to the end at this point), send me a PM. I'll confirm when I receive your information. If I don't confirm, I didn't get your information. I'll add my MSN information to my profile for those who want to contact me directly in realtime.

Here's the box (as an teaser) without minifigs/mounts, items, or special elements. Box will be full when it goes out, so there will be some mystery and suprise to the arrival.

Alright, last hints:

I didn't include the photos of the minifigs which is what gets most people excited (at least, it's MY favorite part... or least favorite? I had a devil of time deciding which ones to part with :twitch: ). However, there's about ( :eyebrows: ) complete figs (including some Series 1 Collectable figs for grins and giggles) and parts for around ( :sly: )-ish more (various castle years helms, armor, weapons, legs, etc). Oh, and some animals of various types including a few mounts.

Exact numbers omitted on purpose. :halo:

The journey begins this Monday...

Currently the list is:

Me (originator)
Hoboman
Dog Ironbones
Lord_of_Orks

I am awaiting confirmation from Elephant Knight before he is added to the list.

The box should travel to the farthest point first (my shipping cost) and then the shortest distance between the closest people remaining on the list. It should work out for a reasonable shipping cost for everyone involved.

A question:

This is an American Jambalaya? I mean open to americans mainly.

How about an similar one open to europeans? also mainly.

This is just an idea. not to be confused with any kind of americans are not welcome or europeans are not welcome to participate.
I understand that is done mainly in america because of shipping and handling fees. so the same can be done in europe.
I know i have some pieces i really don't need, and some i would like to have. Lol

Let me know what you think of this.

Thoriun

p.s. I repeat my idea is to create a similar jambalaya in europe.

I understand that shipping across the Atlantic will become too expensive, so I may be interested in a Europe-based jambalaya too, Thoriun.

I had condidered this in the beginning. Besides organizing a completely separate box to be sent around Europe (in which case, it would probably be adviseable to start a different thread), the only other solution would be to ciruclate the box through the American addresses, then send the box to Europe to circulate the box through all the European addresses.

I was already looking to do the same thing for interested Canadians, so with a little planning toward cost (this would probably be a month or two away to finish getting through the American addresses I already have), I would be willing to send the box to a location in Europe, provided that someone (the end point in Europe) would be willing to send the box back to me at the very end.

If you want to be a part of what I'm doing, I think that's great. If you would rather put together your own box and keep it totally European, then that's fine too, but so no one gets confused, just start a new thread for signups and pick someone to put together the first box.

hi

sending a box across the atlantic brings a big problem with portuguese customs. The package would need to be label as a present so no taxes would be charges by my country. But if it comes inside the EU (european Union) no taxes are charged.

So i think we can do a small jambalaya open to EU members to see if it works well. And i believe it will. :)
When this is done. I believe we can make a transcontinental one. :)

Tomorrow or sometime during this week i'm going to my local post office to see what are the costs to do so inside the EU and what the law says about it. So expect a new Thread in a week or soo :)
