If you're making exceptions based on this, I'd like to take the second alternate spot. Otherwise, it's unlikely I'd ever meet a post count prerequisite.

Regarding the discussion, as it's unclear if I am part of the draft, I'd think a $30.00 set (which many of the already suggested ones would mirror my own) would be the best bet.

And, according to the list str0ngbad doesn't have a good score. He doesn't have any score. :tasty:

Str0ngbad has a good score, the list just hasn't been updated since Josh's absence. All of his scores are on the last two pages. I know because I traded with him. He was great to work with! :tasty:

I know I'm a newer less established member, but for what it's worth I would also vouch for Bronx in this draft as well. But that's not my decision. :)

Having personal experience with bronx, we can let him take the last spot. I mainly added that "100 post" rule so that we were sure to have people who were going to be active through the process until it's completed. I don't want to get stalled because someone doesn't log in but for every other weekend or something. ;)

OK, so the list is full. Can we reach a consensus on what set is desired? It seems like Council of Elrond is the one nearest or at the top of most people's list.

I'm also proposing we adopt a few specific rules:

1 - Snake style draft (1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1-1-2-3....until the last lot has been picked)
2 - Fig parts are split up (all of "Fig A"s torsos in one pile, all of "Fig B"'s hair in another pile, etc)
3 - After everything is split out into lots, if there are any piles that seem unfairly large, we will vote on splitting them up. Not a big deal if there are 100 technic pins, but for example last draft I did split this part: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=6106 into two lots because there were 64 of them. When I drafted "Weathertop" with 13 people, we split the black horses into 3 lots. However, just because a part is large doesn't need to be split. The main thing is that everyone is happy with the distribution and that people are open to compromise.
4 - Keep in mind that this is supposed to be fun! Don't bicker or be overly obstinate if the group votes differently than you'd like. We have a good group here so I'm not too worried about it though :)

The rules mentioned are very fair. Especially with the snake draft. First pick doesn't look so pretty when you have to wait 15 more picks ;)

I especially am in favor of slitting larger piles, to give more loot for people.

I know. I was just trying to be an Megablocks since the list hadn't been updated.

If we act fast, the #9741 Uruk-Hai Army might be the best bang for the buck with the near 20% savings.

However, who doesn't have this set (or several) by now? But, really, who couldn't use more of it?

Just a suggestion. I'm in for whatever set.

OK, I'm going to assume everyone wants to do a $30 set.

Sets Desired:

Eklund:
1 - Council of Elrond
2 - Uruk Hai Army

Forestboy:
1 - Uruk Hai Army
2 - Council of Elrond

RichardAM:
1 - Council of Elrond

Strongbad:
1 - Council of Elrond
2 - Uruk Hai Army

Soccerkid6:
1 - Uruk Hai Army
2 - Council of Elrond

Sschmidt:
1 - Council of Elrond or Uruk Hai

Bronx
1 - Uruk Hai Army

Does this list match up with what everyone prefers? If so, it looks like Council of Elrond is what people want to do, unless the $5 off on Uruk Hai has changed your minds...

Let's get a consensus quickly so that I can start looking for sales and deals while the money is being sent in.

Everything sounds great so far. Just to bump up some other suggestions though (in no order)-

79108 Stagecoach Escape
9476 The Orc Forge ($40 though- might be an issue)
79001 Escape from Mirkwood
79004 Barrel Escape (less desirable than Mirkwood I think?)
70402 The Gatehouse Raid

Sticking purely with castle/historical of course. I do like the idea of Friend/Chima sets too, but i'm less aware of them if i'm honest. I think Council of Elrond is a good shout though.

I like the rules you proposed, and as for the set, Uruk-hai army was already my first choice, but with 5$ off it's even better! The Council of Elrond is also a great choice though and by the list you posted it seems the most popular choice :)

OK we will wait to see if anyone who had Elrond as their first choice decides to switch to Uruk Hai attack with the current discount. If not, it seems like everyone will be happy drafting Elrond.

Here are the parts lists for both. Multiply quantities by 8 and see which one gets your mouth watering the most ;)

Council of Elrond - 83 unique elements (not counting fig parts, I think), 227 pieces, 4 figs
advantages: new figs, elf hair, orange and olive leaves, new arches, very few black parts

Uruk Hai Army - 88 unique elements (not counting fig parts, I think), 229 pieces, 6 minifigs, 1 horse
advantages: tons of fig parts, lots of bley parts for castles, printed 1x4 wood grain tiles, horses, sand green parts, not many black parts

I will do Elrond or Uruk Hai either one. For something new and fresh Elrond is easily the better option. But for piece value Uruk Hai is definitely the better option with the cheaper price. I will go with either one of those. Whatever you guys decide is fine with me.

I cast my vote for Uruk-Hai as it's cheaper and Elrond has a not as great price per piece ratio anyway.

Looks like we are just about split down the middle. For those who wanted Council of Elrond, would you be interested in doing that one later? That set just came out and so it will be around for quite a while. We might even be able to get it on sale next time. In contrast, Uruk Hai army will likely not be around for as long, and is currently on sale. (Plus, I just drafted Council of Elrond and am doing it again in August with my LUG ;) )

If you have your heart set on Council of Elrond, let me know ASAP. If not, let me know that you are OK with Uruk Hai army so I can put in an order for 8 copies of the set at Amazon's discount price.
