Sshmidt's first pick was the horses, and Strongbad (Lil Brudder on Flickr) has selected the Rohirrim Torsos w/ Dark Green arms for his first pick.

This is really fun already! :D

Who wants to rate the first two picks? This is really cool!

Hey, am I going crazy, or are we missing the Dark Bluish Gray Hinge Plate 1 x 2 Locking with 2 Fingers on End? I printed out my own copy of the parts list and was lining up the numbers before my pick. And then saw a skip in between the Dark Bluish Gray Brick, Round 1 x 1 Open Stud and the Dark Bluish Gray Hips and Dark Brown Legs with Scale Mail Pattern. (I'm basing this off of the Bricklink parts inventory) I didn't find it on the Flickr photo description soooo....

I don't know...I might be going crazy. :spin:

I combined it with the black half to make a complete hinge assembly. Good eye!

I honestly think every pick before mine was the absolute best pick ever, since none of them were what I wanted to select first. :tasty:

If anything, Eklund's pick was the only mildly crushing one. I definitely thought it'd sneak under the radar.

I agree. Don't worry, Bronx. If he had skipped it, I would have grabbed that armor for sure. Maybe there is some consolation in knowing you never had a chance? ;)

Str0ngbad devastated me when he picked the 32 1x3 sand green bricks. I just knew those would be skipped and I could get all the sand green bricks in one sweep with my second and third pick!

This is incredibly fun.

The profile bricks and 1x4 brown tiles were the most painful for me.

I am just waking up! These are gone!? Noooooooooo!

I should have figured, though. With over a dozen picks before I go again, you guys probably only left me the technic pins.

AK,

Would you mind clarifying how trades work?

Example:
Participant 1 trades lot X to Participant 2 for lot Y.

When would they need to contact you? After the trade has been made or after the draft? Where would they post the trade at?

I have a sneaking suspicion the trading will be as fun as the actual picking.

Let's do all trades after draft is completed. You can work on them now, but I won't actually start moving parts from one box to the next until after the draft is finalized.

At that point, I'll start a spreadsheet to keep track of everything. One person can send me the trade notification, but be sure to CC the other participant so that they can jump in if everything isn't the way they thought it would be.

Hey guys,

Just for fun I have posted my draft results and also the price per piece. I would interested in seeing all of yours as well, to compare numbers and such. I obviously didn't get the most valuable pieces (price wise) but I got the pieces that I desired most.

Here are my selections with their total value.
Total value was calculated like this. On bricklink I went to the cheapest new piece possible that had at least my quantity amount. If I wanted to get 16, 2x16 Light Bluish Gray Plates, I found the lowest price seller who had AT LEAST 16 plates. If the seller only had 15 plates, I went to the next one until I found a seller that had my total amount. These are the numbers.

In the parenthesis is the price I would have paid to get this many items from one seller.
1.) #89-8 Reddish Brown Horse, Moveable Legs with Black Bridle Pattern ($15.92)
2.) #103-64 Sand Green Brick 1 x 1 ($4.48)
3.) #76-12 Pearl Dark Gray Minifig, Headgear Helmet Castle with Lateral Comb (Uruk-hai) ($15.72)
4.) #52-8 Flat Silver Minifig, Weapon Sword, Greatsword Pointed ($3.04)
5.) #67-16 Light Bluish Gray Plate 2 x 16 ($2.88)
6.) #35-8 Dark Brown Hips and Legs ($3.52)
7.) #59-24 Light Bluish Gray Brick 2 x 4 ($2.64)
8.) #20-24 Dark Bluish Gray Brick, Round 1 x 1 Open Stud ($0.48)
9.) #93-32 Reddish Brown Plate 1 x 2 ($0.64)
10.) #64-8 Light Bluish Gray Panel 1 x 2 x 2 with Side Supports - Hollow Studs ($0.24)
11.) #86-8 Reddish Brown Brick 2 x 3 ($0.40)
12.) #4-8 Black Plate 1 x 6 ($0.32)
13.) #15-8 Black Wedge, Plate 3 x 6 Cut Corners ($.08)

My total value on Bricklink for my amount of pieces would have been $49.36 based upon the above statistics and scenario. Altogether we paid $28.00ish (including our gift to AK). I feel very happy with my results.

Is this an indication that every draft will net us profit on bricks per price ratio? No! Keep in mind, it is not about value on bricklink but perceived value. The Uruk-Hai helm sells for around $1.30 for an amount of 12. Is it worth that much in my eyes? Absolutely not. I see it as a 0.50 helm. The sand green bricks have a value of around 0.11. Are they worth that much to me? Moreso. I would even place them in the 0.20 cent range for my needs. The first pick horses were far more valuable to me than any other lot even though they clearer were cheaper and less sought after than other pieces. Value wise I think I could have "net" a greater profit on pieces if I went for the ones with the most monetary value, but that's not what this is about. These were the pieces I wanted and I sure am stoked about my results! (I personally think I had the best draft, and you probably think you did too!)

I love crunching numbers and wanted to present this to anyone looking to participate in future drafts and also for our other participants.
I would love to see your results as well.

Overall, regardless of the price or pieces netted, it was a blast.

These three weeks have FLOWN by. :D
