4696 Spring Cleaning Tub
Hey all,
Today I stopped by K-Mart and picked up four 4696 Tubs, a small blue tub with four large studs and 200 'normal' bricks and 200 'spring cleaning' bricks at a $8.99 BOGO free (!!!). I kept three and I am planning to give one to my local Christmas Toy Drive.
This is an awesome bulk tub and a great price per piece count even at full MSRP (I got 1200 parts for about 1/4 cent each!!). The normal bricks come in black, white, blue, red, green, yellow, trans blue and trans red in various shapes and sizes of brick, plates and slopes. They came in three bags of varying sizes, all with holes in them. Building instructions were also included with some pretty cute models that I might actually build.
The 'spring cleaning' parts are of course the best part. They came in five bags of various size, four with 'breathing' holes and one in solid plastic with printed safty warnings. Though TLC says the parts are packaged randomly all three tubs held the same extra bags and parts, which is fine with me. The parts were all very diverse, some that I'm really thrilled about are; dark red slopes, clear minifig head with strawberries pattern, trans-light-blue large flower, brown door, various roof peaks in burnt orrange and slope with printed computer pattern (for the spacer in me). Pics of the parts I find cool will be coming soon.
There are both new and old colors in this bundle, I found a 1x1 cone in redbrown and a 1x6x1 darkstone arch, both probably excess from Harry Potter sets. About 10% of the parts are printed, and most of them are fairly limiting.
There were almost no normal bricks, save for 2x4s in teal and pink. I am very, very pleased with my purchase, and since I build in nearly every theme all the parts can be used.

Sweet... I'm gonna check K-Mart... although I guess it's a little too late... I was suprised to find myself buying tubs lately - it's good to see!

Re: 4696 Spring Cleaning Tub
I stopped in at K-mart yesterday and picked up two of these. No BOGO but 15% off. Still a good deal. The variety of pieces was amazing, haven't seen a tub like this in a long time. Very impressed.

I bought two of these today. Again, no BOGO, but they were 15% off. I haven't had a chance to sort through them all yet, but I was excited to see the white slopes with the Exploriens logo on it. I find it odd that they would have parts from discontinued sets sitting around for 10 years...
Another interesting piece was the 2*4 light grey slope with a red griffon printed on it. What set did this part originally come with?
