Looks like a cheap clone brand. Be warned: beside the poor quality, the dimensions of those blocks don't look proper to me. I believe they're shorter than real bricks.

Re: Modulex?
Well, I personally wouldn't recommend it, seeing how it appears to be non-LEGO, and I agree with Porsche that it looks like it would be slightly incompatible anyway. So unless you want to build separately with a clone brand, it would seem pointless to get it.Dragon Master wrote:What exactly is it? I'm considerig buying this for 40 Euro:

Re: Modulex?
Don't get it. It's a box full of evil clones. Besides, as everyone else has pointed out, the bricks looks just a bit (but not 1/3 or any other LEGO size) shorter.Dragon Master wrote:What exactly is it? I'm considerig buying this for 40 Euro:

It looks like a ton of bricks though. If you can get the seller to give you a nice clear pic of a lego and a whatever side by side, and they were compatible, then I'd say whatever you choose. I have some clones that work awesome with lego and are still just as durable.
Of course that company no longer makes any bricks or I'd still be buying them too.
However, if they are megablocks quality, and best lock size, then forget it. Its a total waste of money.
Maybe you could get the seller to send a sample brick

Hello!
Modulex is a "Clone Brand" that LEGO produces (or used to produce) themselves. It was meant as a building system for real architects, not for children, and the measurements of an 1x1 brick in this system are 1:1:1 (all sites the same length). It's also MUCH smaller, so you are right that this stuff doesn't fit to normal LEGO, not at all. It's not a cheap clone, though. In fact it's rather expensive on the market.
And no, I'm not at all upset about the weak US Dollar. It never has been that cheap to buy anything from the States :-)
Bye

I am not entirely certain, but I believe Modulex was a slightly better quality clone brand, but the brick sizes were not as easily compatible as Megabloks or Tyco.
The best quality clone brand was Tyco, they were made out of ABS and the bricks were essentially the same dimensions. Tyco did such a good job of cloning LEGO that they had to quit producing their product entirely and experienced some serious financial setbacks.
As for the dollar, we are reaping the rewards of the low USD up here.

After a long absence, I have returned. I can't wait to start building again.

Hey,
As Jojo said Modulex is originally by LEGO (I believe they have since spinned off into an independant company). In addition to building bricks for architects to use in creating models, they also made signs where there was basically a huge baseplate and a ton of little printed tiles with all the letters--the sort of thing you would see as a directory in the lobby of an office building listing which people are in which offices. My old college had some of these signs. Eric Harshberger did a mosaic uring these, and in his write-up he also gives some more information about Modulex.
Modulex is much smaller than system LEGO and (IIRC) and not compatible, not even in the way that DUPLO bricks are somewhat compatible (i.e. you can stick a duplo 2x2 block over 4x4 LEGO studs).
Don't buy this if you think it will complement your existing brick collection. However, there are AFOLs who love to collect this sort of thing, so if you get a good price you might want to get it and later re-sell it.

Hello!
Here's an additional foto to show you the difference between Modulex and LEGO. Again: They are NOT (I repeat: not) compatible.
Older Modulex (note "~LEGs" like in "LEGo") bricks say "LEGO" on their studs, newer parts say "M" for "Modulex". They came in peculiar colours that are - as far as I know - still not in production for regular LEGO parts, and they came in Maersk blue as well. However, I repeat: Modulex and LEGO are not compatible :-)

Re: Modulex?
Woah I clicked on the link to the picture and I thought it was a ton of regular LEGO bricks in light grey!! I guess without other sized bricks to compare to, you can't tell that Modulex bricks are significantly smaller scaled...Dragon Master wrote:What exactly is it? I'm considerig buying this for 40 Euro:
