They are rare in the sense that Lego hasn't made them for about 30-40 yrs, but the knights your talking about, and their corresponding light gray swords are easy enough to buy from a source like e-bay. Still, they are an expensive and competitive item to buy.are the lego knights wiht the torso design of a sheild wiht half blue and half red rare?

What Loneranger means is that this torso is from the "Classic-Castle" series of sets which were made between 1978 and 1983. Really these first castle sets were just called Castle, but since these sets are before 1984 LEGOLAND Castle, we call them "Classic-Castle".i know, but classic castle didnt design it. itss a knight faction/ and i want to know if its rare
That particular torso was featured in 383/6083 Knight's Tournament and several minifigure packs:

Any castle sets or pieces from before 1984 command higher prices on bricklink and ebay.

Okay this thread is confusing me, but I will throw in my two cents. ABS swords in black and light grey are hard to find. The average selling price on bricklink for black swords is $10.78. It appears that Bricklink doesn't differentiate between ABS swords and newer ones so it is hard to tell the average price on ABS light grey swords. If I am wrong here someone help me out. It looks like some have sold for one to two dollars so I would assume they are the older ABS and not the newer Harry Potter ones. But I guess we can't really know for sure, can we?
Now about the torsos. This is where I am confused. Which one exactly are you talking about? Is it the design that is used in the CC.com banner http://www.peeron.com/inv/parts/973p47 ? If so, that came in 677 Knight's Procession. And is it probably the easiest to find of the Classic Castle torsos. Its average price on Bricklink is $2.22.
I can find the average prices for the other classic castle torsos, but I need to know which one you are talking about for sure.
