Just a quick question here - What is a good size (dimensions, not KBs. I can sort of guess at that . ) for a picture put on, say, Brickshelf?
What about in a story?
Picture size?

My personal preference for picture size for brickshelf pictures is between 640x480 and 800x600. This is a good size for quality while leaving the viewer a short time to download the image. AFAIK, something like 70-80% of people have their computer set to 800x600 resolutions, so said pictures would take up their entire screen.
As for stories, I typically go with the largest dimention, on average, not to exceed 500 pixels, unless the ratio to height and width is huge (like a 800x50 picture).

I personally try to keep everything at 640x480 - it displays just properly at 800x600 for me. Of course sometimes I'll crop a pic so it may not be a full 640 wide or might be wider. But I try to always keep it 480 tall. As for stories - Usually that same size, unless there is some specific case for a difference. Stories are fine I think as long as they are either too tall or too wide - But both causes a problem.

On Brickshelf I use 750 pixels for the width of my pictures. That way, people who use 800x600 resolution (and a lot of people do) don't have to scroll the image.
