Yellow background for classic sets

Post by Lobberuno »

Hello! It's been a long time. Once I got some of my childhood desired set, the next move is to take some photoshoots to them. Was just some weeks ago that I've decided to replicate the yellowish background found in the classic legoland sets (like the 6080).

So, I'm using Kraft paper for the ground and a yellow paper for the sky. Here are some pictures:

Your picture turned out really well. I suspect the backgrounds were a type of poster board or cardstock that was spray painted.

Thanks,

Ben

Fabulous work with the background, the different paper types work perfectly! Will have to keep this in mind if I ever want to do something similar :)

Thank you so much for your comments, I'm very glad to share this. Still, I'm figuring out if the orange/pink lines to simulate the clouds, I expect that those are painted or digitally added, but for that time I suppose they made a dioram, rather than using the modern techniques. I spent really not much money (that helps a lot), just the kraft paper and the yellow cardstock. I'm adding also two more links:

1) Photoshoot, lighting testings and the background perspective: https://www.instagram.com/p/Bo5dxdXgm9f/?utm ... hare_sheet

2) Cardstock vs yellow box comparison: https://www.instagram.com/p/BomeF6mgOCV/?utm ... hare_sheet

For the camera, I'm not a pro but I used no flash, the ISO around 100-400, fixed camera shots for close objects (with the flower selected) and I went to a place with good a lighting (the kitchen in my case, lol). I also used the timer so the camera be static during the picture.

This looks really nice! I had never thought of doing something like this. The final result seems very close to the original! Thanks for sharing :)
