Avatar problems

Post by venvorskar »

Whenever I try to upload a new avatar I am trying, it says that the file size is too big. I have cropped it all I can, and made it 150 pixelsx200 pixels, but it is still to big. Any tips?

That's funny, I have the same problem.

Its stopped me from uploading my Shadow knight avatar. :(

And for some strange reason, the one I have now is the only one that works.

Mr.venvorskar did you try deleting the avatar that's in there right now, before inserting your new one?

Hey,

Is it the size in terms of pixels, or the file size? If you are in some graphic program like Photoshop or Graphic Converter or whatever and you save an image as a jpg file, you'll usually have the option of picture quality. The lower the quality, the smaller the file size (and usually the change is not visibly noticeable on small images).

I'd bet this is the problem for sure. I would suggest changing the file to a gif... it's the easiest way... otherwise, fiddle with the pic. quality, as Bruce suggested.

It is the file size. I got it to the right file size but it is too small. Here is the avatar. And here is what I want it to be.(but smaller of course). Here are the specifices of the small version:

W:50 (pixels)
H: 60
It has been saved as *.gif
Resolution: 10
I used Paint Shop Pro 9 for this.

Thanks Mr. H! They worked! I just right clicked the image, and did: save image as, and updated my avatar. Just wondering, but can you tell me how you did that?

I just downloaded your image, opened it up in Photoshop, scaled it, and saved it a couple of different ways.

If you don't have Photoshop, or some other program (and most digital cameras and scanners come with some image editing software), Kevin wrote up an article on GIMP, a free photo editing program.

Hmm, I'm thinking I should download GIMP.

Can it edit pictures too? For example, lighting, speacial effects...etc?

Like this picture of my moc the white castle: http://photos23.flickr.com/33700998_aa099bc603.jpg?v=0
I used MS paint and I'd rather use a system that works a little better.

If you like that, here is another one I have done: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Venvo ... s/a001.jpg

There were some with the Scorpion Prison Cage, but my computer deleted them for some reason. They had the prison cage, but with lava in the background.
