Random button on brickshelf

Post by lil Jon »

I'm really not sure where this post belongs, but has anyone noticed the random button on brickshelf.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't there yesterday. Anyways, I just noticed it... has it always been there?

Hmm, I'll shift this to publishing.

As far as I recall, there has always been a "random" feature on Brickshelf. It does look like things have been shifted around a bit on the front page.

The front page now also says "Use maj.com for your non-LEGO® pictures!" It used to encourage users to migrate their brickshelf folders there. This is good news since I don't browse maj.com. Too many folders of peoples graduation pictures and what-not...

I've noticed that the front page layout of brickshelf was changed a bit.

It does look rather boring and pointless. Why would I want to see someone graduating??? Strange people.

Ooh, that's good news. For a little bit there it seemed like Kevin was going to shut down Brickshelf in favor of Maj, which is a good thing. No problem with Maj as a general photo site (like Flickr), but it was impossible to find the LEGO among all the other stuff.

Has anybody noticed that Brickshelf has modified its search options, removing the option to search by member name from the front page? The random button is ok, but I do most of my searches by member. It actually took me a day or two to notice that you can search members while doing an open search.

Honestly, I would trade the random button to get the User Search feature back on the frontpage. This new format just doesn't feel right. (I also miss having the category list down the centre, but that's another story).

Later.
