Map for my fictional short history.

Post by Stone Goblin »

I don't know if this should be in stories(Moderaters go ahead and move this if it's required), it's a map I did for my website's fictional short history of my castle factions. I hope to get the website up soon so you can see the other maps and how they relate to each other.
This link is for the geography map version.
Hope you enjoy. :)

Nice-looking map, very professional-looking, although the general absence of names, etc, is a bit detracting, in my mind.

Are you planning on posting any of the story here? If not, then this is a thread focussed on the map, which means it belongs in Publishing, where I'll move it.

If you are planning on putting up parts of the story here, then I'll move it back...

Publising! This location is fine. I'm not planning on releasing stories on the forum, just a link to the site when it's done(under announcments).
The map is actually just the original blank slate version. The website version has the locations marked with numbers and there is a legend on the side. I was just showing it for it's landscape look, this isn't the finished product.

That map is cool!

How did you do that, in terms of software? I like it very much... looking forward to see what will happen there ;-)

I used Adobe Photoshop 5.0 on my Apple G5. I created the terrain in separately little 20x20 pixels parts(individual mountain and forest patches) and used layers to move pieces around. I didn't use a paintbrush tool, I used a pencil tool with 1 pixel. Notice the waves along the continent, I did that with one pixel tool took me about 4 hours to do, my wrist hurt for a while after that, there probably was an easier and faster way to do that technique.

I created little armies and locations for the map like these(this is just a few of them):
Armies/Infantry
Image Lions
Image Dragons
Cavalry/Heavy Cavalry
Image Lions
Image Ka Lu
Air Units/Dragons
Image Dragons
Sea Fleet
Image Lions
Fort Davnee

Actual Fort Davnee pics here.

wow... not only is that unique - it's very creative! I love this... it looks like you could re-create the old Sid Meir's Civilization games... only in LEGO, so it would be even better.

I really can't wait to see how you use this map and the troop icons. 8)
