That got me to thinking... is there really people out there that think Megablocks is superior to LEGO? I mean, honestly, I know some younger kids may like MB better at first because of all the little bells and whistles. But naturally as you get older you have a better appreciation for the quality of LEGO. But but... thinking more about this...

Do you think there's a Mega-Castle.com site out there? That's profanity filter uses the word LEGO instead of Megablocks?!?!?!

You know, I have to admit that it was partially Megablocks that scooped me out of my dark age. Nooo, I don't mean I bought any of them, but at first glance the store displays look amazing! The small details, the variety of sets and figures. Yup, at first glance I thought these were pretty neat. And then I looked in those plastic display cases a little closer. And you can really see the cheapness of it. And it screams Lego ripoff! Sure they're cheaper moneywise to buy, but not by much. And afterall, you get what you pay for.

So although the Megablocks displayed peaked my interest, it was more of a longing for my old Lego bricks that I loved so much as a child, that Megablocks helped bring to the surface. You might say, their displays backfired in a big way.

Hope this doesn't start anything negative. Just my opinion.

If it makes you feel anybetter, doing a google search for megablock fansites brings up Lego Sites bashing megablocks.

If there was any Megablok website out there, I would puke. I'm sure that most believe in the use of Legos as a staple building toy.

Never heard of megablocks. Are they anything like Mega Bloks?

I don't really don't understand the logic behind it all - the quality is lower and the building possibilities are not as wide... I think he made a Megablocks forum too, but I'm happy to say I don't know the URL.

I did a search for Megabloks fansites once (for perfectly benevolent reasons, I swear! ) and pulled up nothing.

There is no Megablocks sites out there... Actually, Megablocks doesnt exist.

Im going off-topic now by saying there are Mega Bloks sites out there. If you remember the Mega Bloks-guy who was here a short time, he mentions his site in one of his posts. Quite many people there for being clonebricks.

I don't despite my reputation for clone bricks. I have never heard of or seen MB until I came here. It doesn’t sound appealing to buy them, and I see your point about design quality.

The admins, and not the members, will decide what and what is not on-topic. I consider this a legitimate discussion.

Now, to the topic on hand:

So why wasn't my thread a legitimate discussion?

First of all, if this topic is to be discussed, it belongs in Publishing. We're not talking about MOCs, we're talking about websites.

Secondly, this topic is dangerously close to being off-topic, as we're not talking about LEGO, but because we're talking about clone websites versus LEGO websites, I'll allow it, for now.

Third, this thread is differnet from the enlighten threads because the enlighten threads were discussing the enlighten product. Topics that deal only about clone products are not on-topic, as on-topic product discussion is limited to LEGO products. Topics that compare LEGO to clone products are iffy and are judged on- or off-topic on a case by case basis.

That is all.

Hmm, in the other threads people got very angry and said that this is strictly a Lego site. So I don't see why discussing non-Lego websites is any different to discussing non-Lego products. Besides, enlighten is closer to Lego than MB.

Nick, why don't you forget about your locked threads and discuss this one?

Anyways... I'm pretty sure that there aren't many MB sites out there. I think the main factor for this is that Lego has a more established fan community and includes more adults where as most of MB buying people are little kids that aren't supposed to be posting Of course there are grown-ups like Garsh and all, but I doubt there are many like him.
