Hey everyone!

I'm going to purchase a website for Christmas yet have no ideas for a name. The website will be for two businesses, The Brick Central, and my story. The name has to be something cool, yet practical. Maybe latin So... if you have any ideas.. please post them here

Yes. I'm a video editor. I take any VHS, 8mm reels or tapes, VHS-C, Mini DV, etc. and put them onto DVD. Its a proffitable business that brings in a good amount of dough. My brother is a computer geek, thus the computer repair business. As an act of kindness I told him I'd host his site under mine I'll send you a link once its bought and done.

If you want to combine noun with an adjective, better use correct gender:

optima umbra
bona umbra

etc

-us is usually ending for masculine gender, while umbra is feminine.

Otherwise, umbra is a very nice idea.

No.... the ending being a feminine ending doesn't really matter. At least not in terms of your gender. While it is common for male names and jobs to be in the masculine form, and the same for females and the feminine form, I see no reason to try to alter the word "Umbra". Its a nice word, and I think it would work well for you. However.... If you really wanted something in the same word, but different ending (and there are many to choose from), why don't you try adding on to the name a bit? Te ending changes wih each declination, and certainly adding in another word could change it favorably.

Or, another possiblity... (whips out trusty latin dictionary from High School years)... instead of the thing (a shadow), how about an action(to overshadow). The word is Umbrare, so:

Umbro I overshadow
umbror I overshadowed
umbramini you are all overshadowed
umbratus (having been) overshadowed

or....
umbrosus shadowy

These are merely ideas, and my translations may not be exact, but I think they're fairly good.

I don't like "Umbra".

How about Doppleganger.
It can mean your twin or evil version or opposite or ghostly version of yourself or your shadow, which is considered bad luck if you see your doppleganger.

Or how about Wendigo.
A Native American Indian name of some might presume is a bigfoot. Suppose to be a wildman or hairy biped creature. I just love the sound of the name.

No, no doesn't work that way. Word is umbra, and simply means shadow. In english there are no genders for nouns as far as I know, but in latin and many other modern languages there are. It doesn't mean you are a woman tough, don't worry. And furthermore, it's name of the website as you said, so I really see no problem.
