I have a question. Would a restaurant with a bridge in its design fall under bridges?

Thanks to the admins for organizing another great contest. I can't wait to enter, and also to see other people's entries.

Wow! It’s that time already?

Anyhow, I just wanted to say that I will not be participating this year. I made this decision just after last year’s contest, and have chosen to follow LEGOFREAK’s example from the year prior.

The prizes are excellent!! :D There are many good builders here at Classic-Castle, and I hope to see some fantastic MOCs soon. I wish everyone the best of luck, and have fun!

I like that 'Bridges' category- can't wait to see what everyone (maybe even me!) comes up with for that.

I assume that's Mike Rayhawk's awesome banner?

as a side note, who made that CCIV picture? It looks like a Mike Rayhawk, but I can't be sure.
It is a drawing by Mike Rayhawk for Patrick Morgan's Henry Tattoo
Mike kindly let us use it for the Colossal Castle Contest logo this year.
Can the fortified wall just be like the front of a castle or something?
Yes. The Fortified Castle category includes walls, towers, gatehouses, etc.
(A very special thanks to all those who work so hard to set this up and for the prize donators.)
You are welcome!
I have a question. Would a restaurant with a bridge in its design fall under bridges?
It would. Remember that the grading will focus more on the bridge than any attached building.

You can but admins reserve the right to place an entry in the category they feel it fits in best. Miscellaneous is a hard category to judge and win. It is best used for mocs that do not fit in any other category.

I have a question relating to the battle scene:

You say that it should include two unique armies, does that mean we shouldn't use official factions?

I'm not an Admin, so don't take this as definitive, but I rather think this means that you shouldn't have two armies made up of the same faction - it should be easy to tell who's on which side.

I have a couple of clarifying questions to make, also:

For the Vehicles category, would a sort of fantasy/steampunk design be alright, or should we stick with more traditional vehicles?

For the Castle Room Interiors category, is there a limit on the rooms we can stack on top of each other - say for a tower interior?

How, may I ask, was the Viking set donated? Were you usuing your abassadorial powers, or has the C3IV fallen under LEGO's ever-watching gaze?

LEGO has been very supportive of the Colossal Castle Contests for the last few years, even before the Ambassador program was instituted. Ben did the actual communicating, but Steve Witt is the main contact in the US between LEGO and the community (Jake McKee held this position before Steve, Jan Beyer holds the equivalent position in Europe). They do a lot to foster programming in cooperation with fan organizations like CC, various LUGs, etc. Of course having several CCers as Ambassadors doesn't hurt. :)

I respect Sir Nelson's decision not to enter this year, as he would probably own the competition again. However, it will be a bit of a shame, as his creations are so inspiring, and he is a true artisan of the LEGO world.

Hi admins,

Does the "Castle Fortification" category have to be on CCC scale, or can it be larger? It specifically mentions CCC walls, making it a bit confusing. :)

The contest looks great, the bridge category is especially unique. Any specific reason it was created?

Thanks,
-John.

First off, thanks to everyone who has made this truly colossal contest possible. By the looks of things, it seems as though it's going to be another amazing contest. The bridge category is an excellent addition, and I look foward to the results. This is incredible, I can't wait to start building Wednesday!

Now, I have one question. Why is the castle interior category increased to 2 32x32 baseplates? I loved seeing how people made castle living spaces with only 16x16 to go on. Why the big step up?
