Weekly Set Review: Supply Wagon

This week’s set is 6010 Supply Wagon.

Supply Wagon was released in 1984. The set has a villager, cart, and weapon and construction accessories. This is the first LEGO Castle set to not have a soldier minifigure.

Personally, I like it. It was before my time( ), but it looks awesome. If it were out now, you can be sure I'd buy one. I think the cart could be slightly larger, but then again, it's rather nice keeping it small, and thus the price too. It has a nice assortment of supplies, although a barrel or a chest would have been good. Overall, I think this is the type of set Lego should get back to making. Simple, yet very nice.

This seems like a good set. I assume it was under 10 dollars, which would have been a good price. You get a horse, 3 weapons, a shield, and a peasant. Like Porschecm2 said, it would be nice if it had a chest or a barrel. But still, I rate this a 7-8 out of 10.

The treasure chest and barrel were not invented until a few years after this set was released.

Supply Cart was my second castle set. It is one of my all time favorites because it has a great figure, nice accessories, and a simple but effective cart design.

I think it does have a chest, although not one as we think of it. The red thing in the back looks like a chest with a pointed lid, at least to me.

I like the design, it is neat little set which fits in well to any castle scene, I'd think. He sure does have a lot of implements of war with him though, considering he is a peasant.

It would be incredible if LEGO sold things like that for $3 today.

I won one on e-bay along with a 6040 Blacksmith Shop, but neither of them arrived. (they were from the same seller) I was not happy about that, and it is a set I had always wanted since it was right before my time. (I started collecting castle in 1987)

Anyway, it's a nice set for parts. Horse, cart wheels, peasant, equipment.

I really like this set! It is a good source for peasants, wagon wheels, weapons, round shields and horses. Too bad it didn't come with a saddle.

AoErat: you know, I noticed that too, but I still think a brown barrel would have looked nice; like bringing refreshments to the troops.

This is a nice little set. I really like it and own one. It is a simple yet important. What would your soldiers do without this guy who replenish them with new weapons and probably food in that cute red chest after a battle. I give it a rating of 8/10.

let me start by saying it was the cheapest set I ever purchased. If I had more money as a kid I'd probably would have buy at least 10 of it or even more.
It has a great minifig that is only available in two more sets. You call him peasant, I as a kid use to refer to him as a robber. Probably because on set 6055 he is taken as prisoner. Got a lot of weapons for a releative small set, include the a dark gray round shield and a black hammer. As it refers in the set name 'Supply Weagon', I guess you can say he was selling the weapons for the soldiers after the Blacksmith (in set 6040) finished making them. It contains a treasure chest but because the real treasure chest brick was made only in 1985 (in 6011), this one is made from simple red plates and a slop roof part. (berrel however were introduced only in 1988 so of course this set couldn't have one).
It does contain 'Animal Horse Hitching with Hinge' in blue which is relative unique http://www.peeron.com/inv/parts/4587. It was in blue only in two more sets.

For a small set it is a great set and was really worthing it back then so I guess 8/10.

That's a nice classic set! I was lucky to get two of them from two friends for my birthday in 1985. The minifig and the round shield make it great. The black ax is also cool.
The fig is not exactly the first civilian minifig in the Castle world for the blacksmith in 6040 is also not a soldier. ;)

This fig is kinda factionless....

Play ability is 5/10, and 8/10 of the rest.

Right. I meant that this is the first set without a military figure in it. Several sets like 6040 and even 383 had civilians. Later sets like 6055 would continue that tradition. I like villagers and peasants and wish that LEGO made more of them in sets.

This is a very neat set. The cart is of a small, simple design; just what LEGO is (supposed to be) all about. I would get some copies just for the round shield and the black ax.

Overall, I think this is the type of set Lego should get back to making. Simple, yet very nice.

Luis, you're 12 huh? I was 12 when the Yellow Castle came out in 1978, so I can only feel sorry for you missing out on the heady days of '78 to '92, he Golden Era of Castle! Ah for those days to return! We can only hope, and petition TLC of course.
