Superb as always Brody! You have a distinct style and I love it. The landscaping, plants, mottling, and tudor sections are your own and you do them well. This MOC specifically I love the tudor, especially on the tower itself. I see it is again a crusader establishment and that wins points with me! The whole idea of an observatory is neat and I like the use of the stockade doors for the roof!

Sure this isn't Col Glace Observatory at Bridge?

It looks good, though. I've always liked observatories, and this is no exception.

Hi,

Thanks for all the kind words. The doors in the roof of the observatory did indeed take some experimentation to get working properly, but they are fully functional, and I agree that they turned out very nicely. I also struggled with the proportions and height of that tower for a long time. This has been my most ambitious MOC to date.

Best,
Brody

This catagory is really heating up :D

The scale of the MOC is very impressive & the detailing is really well done - I especially like how the abundunce of those three-leafed plants gives the effect of shallow, still water. All this aside, I think E of Alshire has a point ;)

Beautiful. Like Col Du Mont, this is one of the best MOCs I've ever seen. The tree (I really wish I could build one of those), the interiors, the exteriors, the bridge, the tower, the dock, the plants (especially that flowering bush near the tree), the statue's mini-island, the steps, the bridge-keeper's house (that's what I assume it is), the turning observatory, everything is fantastic. This'll definitely do well in the contest.

P.S. Could you also put pics of Col Du Mont on flickr, and Col Glace on Brickshelf? That'd be nice.

This is wonderful, although it seems to be more focused on the structures than the bridge itself. Still, I like it, and the actual landscaping is really nice. Good luck!

This is exactly what I was thinking of building next, only with a tower castle instead of an observatory. Very nice MOC. The bridge itself is not the best thing of the MOC, in my opinion. I love the half timber structure. Sheesh. You build exactly the way I think up stuff in my head. Now I just need more green bricks, some plant pieces... and a big picture of this MOC on my wall and I'm good to go!

In any case, great job.

This is fantastic!
Everything is very well detailed and the pictures are flawless.
If you keep building great mocs like these, then you'll become one of my favorite builders.

Did you enter this into the bridge category?
I think it would fare much better in the miscellaneous or another category, since the bridge portion is rather small.
Anyways, great work!

Wow. It looks very good. I like the "houses" at the tower. I like the idea to use the doors with the roof. The vegetation is wellbuilt too and the little bridge fits in the landscaping.
...
But - and this is only my opinion - I think the landscaping and surrounding is a little bit overloaded, if you want to enter with this MOC in the bridges-category. Please don't misunderstand me. Again, I like the MOC. But the bridge seems to be an addition and not the main thing in it.

Ah, I see I've been found out. I actually began building this MOC in mid-September with CCCIV in mind. I finished in October—just in time to shoot a few pictures, break it apart, pack up the pieces, and begin the two month process of relocating from Los Angeles, CA to London, UK. Originally I thought of entering the Bridges category, but may end up entering in Miscellaneous instead. Unfortunately it will be my only entry, my LEGO collection is currently sitting in a shipping container awaiting clearance from UK customs, and won't be seeing any action for a few more weeks.

Actually, the Bridge at Col Glace Observatory began with a bridge built to an island—and grew organically from there. There are several more detailed aspects to this MOC that I'm looking forward to sharing, and soon I hope!
P.S. Could you also put pics of Col Du Mont on flickr, and Col Glace on Brickshelf? That'd be nice.
Will do. Col Du Mont is already on flickr, you just have to search my photos.
I agree with everyone else on the doors. Do you have any close ups of it?
Yes. I have close-ups of the doors and the telescope inside, they are coming.
If you keep building great mocs like these, then you'll become one of my favorite builders.
Thanks Jacob. You are definately one of my favorite (or is it favourite?) builders!
I think the landscaping and surrounding is a little bit overloaded
I'm really drawn to highly detailed, integrated, lush landscaping. I think that everything I've built has has a ratio of about 1/1 (landscape to medieval structure) which applies not only to visual composition, but to piece usage as well. Thanks for your comments.

Later,
Brody
