Possible Entrie for the Castle fortification catogory.

Post by Ristridin »

Hey all,

This is my entrie for the castle fortification. I don`t know if it is finished yet, and that`s why I post this topic. I can use good tips.

The keep is based on the Welsh D tower tecnic. I tried to make it look realistic and thats why there are these big gray walls, which isn`t anoying at all in reall.
Let me know what you think pleas:

Big Pix! I like this. The curving stair is especially eye catching. I see the 1x1 rounds in there to help achieve this. Very nice. Looks finished to me. Nicely done.

Thank you Bleu Knight.
I have to admit I am not glad with the pictures, so when I submit this in the contest I will make new ones. I think that some pictures in the BS folders (when public) aren`t to bad though. The pictures are made just an half an hour ago when the light of the lamp was the only light I had.

Guys, I also need to give the keep a good name, could use some good ideas :D .

The tower is an interesting shape, not unrealistic, just less common. The spiral stairway really adds alot to the look and the landscaping is good. My only suggestin is that it may surffer a tad from BGW syndrome, but not even that so much. I looks good, keep it up!

The staircase is awsome. The way you built the tower makes it look very imposing.

As said before the staircase is really well done. I really like the shape of the tower & it comes apart very nicely too. There is heaps of details I like, the dock and the boat, and you have done a good job with the landscaping too.

Thanks for posting Ristridin. I knew how you did the curvature at the top but I wasnt shure about the steps themselves. I would have trouble building these as I dont have many smooth tile pieces. Very nice technique though.

cool, Thanks for the pic, Ristridin :) I am actually using a similar method to create a spiral staircase, but the fact that yours is fully "built in" really makes this work well

Ahh, I see. That is a good technique, but I don't have enough flats. I have tried similar things, except I would use a brick and cut of the bumps. I achieved the same thing, but looked really bad. You're method seems far better.

I (like everyone else) am loving the stairs. And despite being a bit harder to see, that lighting gives the MOC a very distinct feel and 'atmosphere'. Nice job!
