"Build Your Army" Castle battle packs.

Post by Troy T. Moore »

Exciting prospect, eh?

As many of you are aware the SW line has a clones and battle droid battle packs now starting to be available in parts of the US. On the front of the clone battle pack box it says "Build Your Army", as I am sure many a SW LEGO fan will (heck, I'll even get a couple of each)

More than a few "castle-heads" are army builders. Reality was that many battle had hundreds to thousands of soldiers, archers and knights involved in period.

Am I the only one that hopes that a similar idea for cool LEGO factions (in the vein of BF and Crusaders as opposed to Jellies) will accompany the rumoured new castle line? Just throwing this out there for discussion. I am especially interested in hearing about what some of our younger members think, who may have smaller armies than some of us who have been "collecting" for a while.

i must say if lego releases a similar "army-builder" pack for castle 2007 like the starwars droids and clone trooper packs, I'm definitely going to pick up quite a few of it!
Its great to guard my castles, as well as stage battles! But no jelly-bean coloured knights for me please :)

I would be very interested in realistically-themed Castle army builders, they would be a set that people would by alot of. (I know I would!)

I really hope TLC does this with a castle line.

Honestly, if TLC donesn't release anything like a castle army builder, they'll be missing out. Those packs would sell so fast...

It would be pretty nice if they released some. However, if it follows in the footsteps of the StarWars packs, it would still be fairly expensive.

Realistically, these army packs would still be considerably cheaper than Bricklink.

I certainly would be interested, but I think that the price would limit my purchases to a few packs.

That being said, I would definitely like to see a medieval "army builder" so long as it included the right figs and accessories.

For me, an important feature would be decals. I would hope that the torsos were of a generic pattern (possibly a mail coat or something similar), so that they could easily be used with any faction. Similarly, shields would be blank, so that a variety of different decals might be applied.

Another selling point would be accessories. Frankly, I want to see arms and armour that go well together. Hopefully, a few new helms and weapons will be introduced. I know I'm not alone in my desire for an official basinet or 15th century sallet. Both of these helmets could be used both for knights and infantry, and look good with or without a visor. A new sword, and a smaller halbred would also be most welcome.

When it comes down to it, the most important thing is that the arms and armour appear medieval, rather than futuristic. I would also expect the armour be in conventional colours (various greys/blacks). If this was the case, I could definitely see myself picking up 10+ of these packs.

THis would be the best thing ever...if it happened. I would not have any money left after my first sighting of sonething like this. The Star Wars ones will be hard enought of the pocketbook...

If I saw a couple of these in the stores, I would buy a decent number of them.

Right now, I trying to expand on the rest of my minifig collection.

With this new faction comming to light, I REALLY want an army builder now. Lets face it, at my age I don't need a huge collection of sets, but I would love to amass a new faction. These guys look awsome.

Hear, hear! One question that’s been pending my mind is what we’ll call this new faction… (Barring TLC hasn’t decided upon a name.) I was thinking the “Royals” would sound pretty neat; what with the crown and all…
