Do you think that Lego should continue making KK2?

I beg to differ.

Although set design has farther to go than fig design, it IS improving. You can't tell me that Vladek's Dark Fortress isn't better than the Castle of Morcia!

I can't say it is, I can't say that it isn't. It's bigger. It's more expensive. It has catapults attached to horses.

However, even if it is an improvement, the design philosophy of KK2 prevents them from making the types of castle sets I want to see. No matter how much better the KK2 sets get, they're still going to be about a handful of colored knights and some bad guys fighting in a silly story and setting.

I know TLC can do much better.

Nope. I want to see what else TLG's designers will come up with; even if it's not as 'good' as KK2:3. At least it's another opportunity - all the KK2 sets follow the same poor design pattern, no matter how many cool minifigs and armors are included.

Even though I hate KK2, they have alot of euro armor for a rather decent price. Custom fodder of course! I did vote yes. Crappy line, great pieces.

I voted No. I really dislike this KK2 crap. "Watch out here comes a baby blue knight." Lego has seriously gone down hill since I came out of my dark ages. I was really into lego when sets like 6036, 6044, 6078, and 6090 were available. Now I go to TRU and I see The Kings Seige Tower, with a huge shield that is good for nothing, and a these gold swords that look like there from Power Rangers. This is far from appealing to me(17 year old male). I really dont understand what direction Lego is going in with sets like this. The overall target audeince of the KK2 stuff seems to be directed to 10 year old kids. As where the older sets, could be enjoyed by all ages because it balanced perfectly on the line. Thats just my 2 cents. Lego just doesnt have the same feel anymore.

That's one "yes" I will regret for long for I can't stand the KKII crap either. It's toyish, ridiculous and in some ways trying to introduce what "The Rainbow Knights" - Brothers (Sisters) in Arms?! I believe you understand me well...
But on the other hand there is a grave possibility that the TLS may switch the KKII line with another Batman, Star Wars, etc. franchise => so no more Castle lads...

Yeah and then maybe the horses could turn into cars so the knigths could go even faster. and then.... uhm all out of ideas.

And then the leading guy would go on a quest for a enchanted sword, and transform into a good armored demon and all his friends too, and the castle would start walking and the dark knights would ride giant robots, and there would be super destroing magic.

Now we are giving them ideas (Lego KKII designer: humm...not a bad idea)

And then the knights could wear regular modern clothes, and the carts would become cars , and the kastle would become a sky scraper, and then the king would be a business exicutive, then Vladek would become a rival executive, and the knights would wear different color suits, and the shadow knights would wear black jackets and tuxedos. The Knights of the Kingdom would then wear green and red and purple suits and use multicolored laptops instead of swords, and instead of catapults, there would be paid minions to throw rocks at the rival building.... But then that would Be lego city, not castle....

That actually sounds like an exciting theme. I would buy into it.

Wow... this is a thread that's stood the test of time...

I'm guessing KK2 is over and done... although I would have liked to seen the story end (I don't like hanging storylines), and the sorceror with his gargoyles would have been a nice addition to my collection, I will be ok... especially now that I've seen the new sets.

At this point, obviously KK2 is dead.

More to the point, continuing the line would simply be overkill as there isn't enough difference between the new line (a fantasy-themed castle line), and KK2 (a fantasy-themed castle line). Moreover, KK2 has been steadily moving towards a more conventional castle aesthetic. In alot of ways, what we are getting for 2007 could have just as easily been referred to as KK2: year 4.

Both lines use essentially the same assortment of bricks, and similar minifigs. Continuing KK2 would just be overkill.

I would have to disagree with you. The assortment of bricks looks much better this year, and the minifigs are nothing alike at all. Also, KK2 wasn't really a fantasy line, like this new castle is. There were no dragons or walking skeletons or anything else in KK2 that were fantasy, while this new years is completely fantasy based. I am not saying that one is beter than the other, just that they are most definately different.

I don't know about that. It seems to me that KK2, year 3 has a very similar aesthetic to this new line. Moreover, KK2 has been steadily evolving since its initial release. Personally, I find that the 2007 sets are closer in appearance to KK2 than any other castle line.

It would also appear that our definitions of fantasy differ somewhat. For me, fantasy goes beyond simple cliches like dragons, evles and zombies. The power-ranger inspired Jellybeans and their battles against the evil Scorpion knights in a fictional land where the only other minifig is a wizard with a translucent spear seems pretty fantastical to me.

No, the new line isn't KK2, but it really isn't that different either.
