More New Set Pics!

Post by Athos »

Town, Star Wars, Batman, Exoforce (blech!), Technic and, drumroll please, Space!

http://eurobricks.hosting.ipsyn.com/eur ... p?act=home

EDIT: My thoughts:

The creator house looks excellent. I most heartily applaud the choice to make it in colors other than red and white. I'll definately snag this one.

The Star Wars stuff is still quite underwhelming. I may snag the Jedi Starfighter for the new Jedi guy. He might make an interesting Castle character. The dark blue is also nice, but the ring thing seems like a waste. May get the Naboo fighter too, for what appears to be a blond Harry Potter hair.

The new Space line looks like Exo-force in space, with a dash of life on mars to give it a little extra bit of crappiness.

Town looks good, though I'm not into town. The train station looks great, but small. And I don't really need the four included tracks.

I'm pretty much over Batman, though a Bane character (is that him in the tank set?) might be interesting for castle. But come on, a bat-tank? The Scarecrow plane, however, looks very good and the scarecrow figure has a pretty generic useful peasant torso, so I may have to snag that one. Wonder what other vehicles are left? A bat-segway?

Exo-force is exo-force, which to me means no good.

Technic, I don't do, so nothing to add there.

Steve

There's some really kool stuff in there. As much of a Space fan as I am, those actually interest me alot less than some of the other stuff. That Creator house looks fantastic! The LOM stuff is ok, but not terribly thrilling, though there are some interesting parts in there. The Exo-Force stuff is like the current stuff; not great sets, but amazing parts packs. Even though I'm not much into Star Wars sets anymore, I've got to admit those sets look really good, especially the new MTT. Batman is pretty interesting; that tank just screams "loads of treads!" 8) And you've gotta love good 'ol Octan.

All in all, the most disappointing thing is the amount of money in my wallet. :P

I think these new lines of sets show that Lego is getting back up off the ground. Unfortunately, they also show that Lego still has a long way to go. Let's go over these new sets by theme.

Star Wars:
Ah Star Wars Lego, is there anything they haven't remade yet? The Jedi Starfighter Booster Ring set looks nice, and the blue Jedi Starfighter is as sleek as the other Jedi Starfighters. The problem is, why would you want a somewhat clunky booster ring anyway? The only real high point in this set lies in Kisto Fisto, who will be a prize to get I'm sure. Overall, this set will probably cost way to much for me to buy. The new MTT is a lot better than the old one, although it still doesn't carry enough droids. The Destoryer droid in the background looks way too big, and the extras seem to be not worthy of hacking out the $70-100 for this set.The new Naboo Starfighter looks much sleeker and at least 3 times better than the old one. The Vulture droid looks better, and the new minifig is nice. Still, probably won't be worth the money. Overall, this series update is sleek and cool, although the sets themselves will be too much money for reaching a somewhat small crowd.

Batman Sets:
First off, I'm a huge fan of Batman. Movies, Cartoon, Comics, I know and enjoy them all. But in all those mediums, I don't think I've ever seen a Bat-tank; and the Bat-helicopter, is just plain desperate. The sets look rather clunky, and once again the best part about the Batman sets are the minifigs. No good on this one Lego.

City Sets:
I'm not much of a city man, since I prefer living in the country. These new sets look clean and fun, but seem to miss a little magic that the old town used to have. Also, there aren't that many minifigs in these sets. Still, Lego is definately going down the right path with this line.

Mars Mission:
A sequel to one line of Lego that makes me jibbly all over. The horribleness that was Life on Mars, makes me lose my faith in Lego's recovery. These sets look pretty much terrible, but not as bad as their ancestors. I get somewhat of a kick out of the fact that the aliens on Mars have apparently turned against us. I always hated them anyway. There looks like there's a few redemptive qualities about these sets, but overall, a line that pretty much stinks.

Exo-Force:
Exo-force continues to get somewhat better, but still not up to par. The stronghold looks really interesting for castle parts, including golden ninja swords. This set might be a must for people building Japanese mocs.

Creator:
The Creator line continues to kick serious tail. The house set is amazing. The Dinosaur though, leaves a lot lacking, but the power functions seem quite nice.

Overall:
As I said earlier, Lego is still climbing up, and is still failing in areas. 2007 looks like Lego will take another step foward, but not enough for my liking.

I can't really tell by the pics, but on the new exo force sets, are those gold ninja swords? If so, then I can't wait!

That creator house is amazing. That big ol' WWI style tank and biplane will probably end up parked by my Indiana Jones, I mean Adventurers sets. Interesting return to Episode I for SW. Would have liked to have seen series of connectible Death Star sets here.

I'm buying all those castle sets 'cept maybe the Ogel one.

Hey Alan,

I think he is talking about the Batman sets. But comparing the Bat Tank to a World War I tank is going a bit far. I can see the resemblance but its stretching it.

I definately see some resembalence, especially in the treads, since the WW1 tanks are always pictured with the big treads visable.

Thanks, guys. Okay, now I see them. I wasn't even bothering with the Batman sets, so that's how I missed it. The tank looks like what a tank would look like if everything except tread technology had developed since WW1. A specific case of arrested development?

Well, in my defense, I *would* mod the tank a bit to make it look like the Last Crusades version - keep the track architecture, but use sad colored bricks and put a turret up top etc. But yeah, the track layout is the same as the WWI Brit Mk IVs. And I really like biplanes!

Wow. LEGO have some really cool stuff this year. I have a feeling I am going to be very broke ;) My favorites would be the Creator line (that house is so cool) & some of those exoforve sets have some amazing elements. Well done LEGO, another goden age approaches!

Well, look at this.

as well as these.

http://shop.scandimex.cz/katalog/98598/orig/7091n1.jpg

http://shop.scandimex.cz/katalog/98598/orig/7090n1.jpg

all i can say is....

YAY SKELETON HORSES THEY WILL EAT ALL YOUR HUMAN MINIFIGS WHILE THEY SLEEP.

And then what? More zombie minifgs?

The Proffesor from the adventure series turns to Johnny, and asks
"Shall we break out the rifles?"

All and all, I can see that these are a major improvement over KK3. Just please don't make the name KK4, please oh please lego, that would turn this godsend into a bad omen.

and after that sudden outburst, I also have this to add.

Look at this awesome castle.
