Do you like KK2?
Do you like KK2? Explain why or why not. I personally was once fan, but I changed sides.

I can't vote in this poll, its too flawed. It not a case of Yes, No, used to be.
Personally, I don't mind KK2 and never have. I don't like the storyline, but I don't like Lego having storylines at all. But KK2 is good for parts and each year has gotten better. So, not a huge fan, but never hated it either. Kind of like Fright Knights.
And there aren't any sides. We are all Lego fans here. But, if you really feel that you have changed "sides", shouldn't you change your signature?

i like kk2. it's flawed, not as good as the older sets, and not always worth the money, whether for parts, minifgs, or the sets themselves, but as long as you enter with an open mind and don't compare them too strictly with older, better sets, i think you can have fun with them. i understand perfectly saving your money and buying stuff from bricklink instead, but i also think that some of the criticisms often leveled at kk2 are somewhat unfair. jellybean colors, lack of historical accuracy, and especially bley, are things that don't bother me or most kids i know. i kinda wish you guys would phrase your criticisms as opinions rather than cold, hard facts (i.e. "I don't like jellybeans" rather than "jellybeans = bad", et cetera).
also, i actually prefer bley. maybe i'm crazy though.

For the most part, I don't really like KK2. Year 3 had a few decent minifigs, and the heraldry was ok, but I really don't like the minifigs from the first two years. The Scorpion knights never interested me either, so I can't claim much love for the minifigs as a whole.
I found the sets to be just as lacking (with the exception of Vladek's Dark Fortress). Most of these sets suffered from an over-emphasis on gimmicks, rather than solid set design. I found a majority of sets to look aesthetically unpleasing and the abundance of large juniorized elements certainly didn't endear those sets to me. Year 3 saw no improvement in set design, and in fact was in some ways a step backwards when compared to Vladek's Fortress.
Finally, there is the "bley-factor". No matter how good a set is, bley will always be a black spot to me. I simply have no interest in bley bricks. I can foregive the colour change where the set is very appealling, but this is not the case with KK2. I've been collecting LEGO for over 20 years, and I don't have the money or interest to purchase bricks that are largely incompatable with my existing collection (IMO of course).
So no, I do not like KK2.
Later.

No, I do not like KKII. On the other hand it is not a question of hate either.
Now when it in some ways look like we can put this behind us, what with the new line hopefully coming in mid-07 (*fingers crossed*) I belive we can sum it up:
I think it represents some years when tlc went too far in many ways, story-telling, colors and other things of which we all know (and in some cases have beaten the heck out of in this very forum ). Of corse this goes for the first year(s) of KKII to a higher degree than the later version, that have turned out as an improvement.
Over the last few days I have been reading back in the forums to the time (late -03)when the new KK-line was announced and people arround here were predicting the death of Lego Castle.
In retrospect I think both we and tlc came out of it okay.

I'm with Josh. This poll is flawed. Horribly.

I often compare KK2 with the Harry Potter range. At the time each theme was the closest thing we had to a Castle line, and although they not were strictly a real castle theme I thought that it was better than nothing. At least the idea was still being kicked around over there in Billund.
Both themes have some great elements. I think what is really telling in this context is that the Harry Potter theme was ultimately more useful for parts & accessories than KK2 ever was.
I don't agree with bley bashing either. I have a bit of old grey, but not enough to build a substantial castle. My only choice is to go with Bley. Hearing people put the colours down outright as "ugly" & "unusable" is quite disconcerting.
I am totally against LEGO's decision to change the colours, it certainly seemed to go against their own 'fair play' policy. But what choice do I have if I want to seriously participate in this hobby?
So, no, I don't hate KK2 - but I beleive their designs were nowhere near as good as they could have been.

"Yes"
The concept of unique knights was interesting, but then it made having two Jayko's kind or weird. It also seemed like a king and four knights defend the entire kingdom. Some nice pieces in these sets, especially Vladek's Castle, probably my favorite addition to the castle line (that set, not the series) since Dark Forest sets were done.
The most recent edition of KK2 with the darker colors is really great. I love Battle at the Pass. 10 figures, lots of armors, countless weapons, though a few of the good knights need plumes to complete their helms.

I agree with you on the bley bashing (as surprising as that may sound). I don't think the colour is bad per se, but it does not mix well with old grey (particularly dark grey/bley). When I say that I have no use for bley, I mean it quite literally. You must remember that many people that you identify as "bashers" don't like the colour because it has greatly impacted on their ability to build.DARKspawn wrote:I don't agree with bley bashing either. It may be a dead issue, but it does impact my opinion of LEGO's current offerings. A set I might have picked up for parts no longer holds the same value it once did. Surely you can see how this might affect my (and presumably some others') opinions on KK2.

Yes, I like KKII. But I also like the other castle themes better.
While I don't really like the fantasy element (colourful characters, unreal swords, self-propelling scorpion-like war machines, wheeled horses, etc.), the bley issue doesn't bother me very much. Some of the sets are also quite decent parts packs.
The 3rd year minifigs are great, and I also find Vladek and his soldiers the most menacing faction yet - at least till the skellies arrive in the summer.

Perhaps a better poll would be to rank KK2 on a scale of 1-10?
And for the record, I don't like KK2. And for me, its almost all about the colors. A fully purple knight would look utterly silly standing next to a classic-castle knight, let alone baby blue. The hearldry is also pretty bad. I also dislike the lack of bricks, but that's a problem in most every line anymore.

i really just don't get this. it must be nothing more than a difference of opinion, but not only do i prefer bley, i see no reason why you can't mix the two.I agree with you on the bley bashing (as surprising as that may sound). You can if it is done properly. Its just that it is an extra step and can look funny if you don't do it right. And its a real pain to sort... I personally don't mind the bleys, I just dislike the replacement.zac_schmitt wrote:i really just don't get this. it must be nothing more than a difference of opinion, but not only do i prefer bley, i see no reason why you can't mix the two.I agree with you on the bley bashing (as surprising as that may sound).
