What happend with plants?

Well, I may be grasping at the straws, but brown isn't uncommon and if you use plates and tiles properly you can get a pretty impressive tree. But you can also go to the lego stores where you try to cram as many legos as possible in one tiny bag; I got over 200 plant peices(most were flower stems/long grass peices) and some trans bricks for about 20 bucks.
Just my thoughts on the matter...

It's really sad now though, how kids are so much more action-oriented, that they loathe paying attention to little details. Lego's realized this. So now they make crappy castles, but put an action storyline behind it, and kids go for it. They dropped multiple factions cause kids are now uncabable of imagination in which armies do what.

That pretty much states what has happened perfectly. Absolutely perfectly. Which is saddening.

Yes, where have the plants gone? They might add some trees, or maybe secret passage ways in trees (then kids would care if there was a tree next to the castle). It would be really cool to put back those cypress trees. Those look excellent, and they are big pieces (that seems to be the theme in KKII).

Hmm, I was actually kinda wondering about this myself. If not in the sets, then trees could be added in as their own accessory set, like what has been done before!

LEGO has sold tree packs for many years. Most fans would like more variety other than the large pine, small pine, and fruit trees. We would like palm tree packs, folliage leaf packs (with large and small leaves) in green and fall colors, flowers and stems, etc. Currently the only source for these other items is Pick a Brick and Bricklink.

Oh, and placing more trees in current castle sets would be appreciated. Now and then they show up, but not nearly as often as they once did.

The Lego store in Orlando, Florida has flowers for sale. It is one of the parts you can chose for the Pick-A-Brick thing. I think they might have pine trees too, but of that I am not sure.

LEGO store pick-a-bricks is where I have gotten almost all of my plants. I would say that this is just about the only way to buy plants nowdays.

There's still Bricklink, right? And if plants are all but gone from sets now, that's where I should be. Why can't they go the way of the catapult and be made into camouflage?

That's where I buy most of my plants. The problem is find a store with lots of the plant you're looking for, that's still cheap.

Now that people mention the lack of plants, it seems so wrong.!! But to be honest, until I read this thread, I hadn't noticed.

Also thanks for posting the images to those 80s catalogues, what a pleasure it was to see those images again...The Golden Era of the Castle Theme.

There is a lack of plants, I don't get why TLC stopped making them. They could have made the Castle series a lot popular.

Yeah I miss some good plants but they sell some trees at Lego for 10-20 for $5.00...I got a few and I use them all the time.

Plants are what beautifies towns, villages, and etc. No City Parks with out them, no Medieval Forest Battles without them, and no alien worlds without plants either.

Besides, how can those minifigs breathe their LEGO Air without the LEGO plants making Lego oxygen?
