Griffon Rider

Post by DARKspawn »

Hi, all

Here is my latest MOC, a brick built Griffon with rider. OK, so Lord Cedric the Bull was a bit of a looser, but have you met his sister, Lady Celeste? She obviously inherited the style in the family, & has some mean magical creature handling skills too

Hello Aaron

Very nice looking beast. The colour combination looks great. The articulation on this creation is very impressive. Also the Griffon looks like the correct size in comparison to the minifig. I also like your Griffon Rider, especially because she is wearing chrome armour and a chrome helm.

Overall it looks great. – Job well done (as always).

Super cool. The colors work well, the proportions are nice, and it looks just like I would imagine a Griffon would. The wings are great, too. Nicely done.

Hey awesome job, dude! I think I'm going to try making one of these too, he looks very fun to play with and pose. Any secrets you want to divulge in how you made him? I mean he looks pretty straight forward but is there any internal structure that's going to give me trouble?

A great brick built beast. I agree with Supernova, that they can be used together to have an army, maybe with knights riding on them. However, it is still great on its own.

Very nice gryphon (or griffon if you prefer). The only thing I'd change would be better blending between the brown and tan on the body.

Thanks everyone :D

He is certainly no work of art, but he's simple & sturdy & looks ok for his size. There is no real tricks in his construction, & he is fun to play with & pose. An army of them would be great, I had that idea myself ;) I tried to make the minifig look as corny as possible for full fantasy effect lol.

Very nice, Aaron. I like the colors you used, and the way you made the headd and beak. The only think I don't like as much is the porportions. It seems a bit to thin. Still, it's probably better than I could do.

Wow, I would think it would be buckbeak. But i did not even know they made a lego buckbeack. I guess they stopped making Harry Potter Lego when they became PG-13

I think I prefer the pre-mold Buckbeak...

Just kidding. Looks great. Maybe a bit big (to me), but I love the forelegs.

Very nice! I really like it. I don't see how I could rival this one with mine. Well, that goes without saying for mine would not stay together...

Thanks again, all :D

I would just like to point out that Buckbeak is a Hippogriff - half eagle, half horse - while Griffins are half eagle & half lion.

I have always imagined hippogriffs being about horse size & Griffins being somewhat bigger as they are often portrayed as a natural preditor of the horse in fantasy fiction & soemtimes as hated enemies of Dragons (although I have always found the later to be questionable ;))

I was also confused with the spelling, there are so many ways to spell it's name - must be a hangover from Old English

Wow! I must have forgot to post on this guy.
Looks great! The legs are well done and I love the overal shape. For being a not-very-fantasy type I really like it!
