How To Tell Whose is Whose

In big displays (NWBC comes to mind), I understand that you sort by section, that every one does a different section of the display.
But in some displays, it seems as though someone's plates overlaps with others.

Finally I come to the final question.
Do you just remember whose is whose, or do you mark your bricks?
*I highly doubt you do*

I've been here for a while, but I am still a new at some things...

At Brickfest PDX 2007 we will be flying flags over our MOCs. I'm not sure what they do other times, though.

For the filler plates at NWBC 06, people used tape, like masking tape, with their names or initials on them to determine their contributions.

Past that, it was remembering where you put your stuff when.

Generally the two ideas that have been posted are what's used: masking tape underneath a baseplate or just knowing where you put your stuff. For the most part the people who are setting up these large - huge displays have a TON of bricks, and thus aren't sticklers for some baseplates getting mixed up etc. (they've got tons). There is a good level of trust between the fans~!

When Lego fans come together and create large combined displays are usually very happy to share a little bit here and there with their "neighbor" to enhance the overall layout. When my club recently did a month long train display for Christmas at a local mall setup, i had brought a bunch of extra plates, etc that we used to enhance parts of the layout and bring things more together. In the long run if a baseplate or couple bricks get misplaced it's not the end of the world.

I don't think we are going to be flying flags at the display, unless they are part of your MOC. The flags are for the planning phase. The bottom of the plates will be taped/marked if you like. Everyone can recognize their stuff, and we have the friendliest community I have ever been part of, so any dispute would be handled wonderfully. I'll add that I've never seen any such dispute. At NWBC Breadman 8cres worked to perfection. We integrated parts without issue. In fact people were more careful with other people's stuff.

What worked well last weekend as part of the train display for Lego Palooza was that i put a little brick on each of my tracks that i used for the display. Since we were short on straight tracks i brought mine in but wanted to make sure that there was some way to discern them from Mike's when we tore everything down. A 1 x 2 plate with a clip on the end worked well and didn't seem out of place.

So that's always an option too, assuming you have enough of one certain type of brick to identify what is yours and what is someone else's.
