Lego Galapagos Scene

Post by Prince Imdol »

Hey, I am going to the Galapagos in March. I hope to
take a lot of pictures, and soon make a lego model, and map of where I went,
I will be buying a lot of grey bricks. LOL. I hope to get
some custom animals. Have any ideas for those. And maybe some good waves, and trees would be good.

Have fun in the Galapagos. It must be cool to go to such an exotic place. I recommend trying to build one of those giant turtles- they're so cool!

Be sure to take a minifigure along and take pictures of him touring the islands! Something like this:

And if you do a good write up, I'll include your story on my blog.

Obviously being sick at home means I have too much time on my hands...

This is a tortoise idea I am now playing with (I read this thread about an hour ago, so is still in the very early stages)

If I get more inspiration (especially for the head) I will post them.

Also you need an iguana... but I will sleep on that one (well not on an iguana that would be a bit warm and squishy... sleep on the idea).

Cheers

I think if the head were on the thinner end that would work better :)

*EDIT Something like this would be cool for minifig size (with the appropriate colours), it's so simple it's probably been done before though ...

Pics are BS links

I think I'll make a whole bunch of mini-robotic versions :D

Ouch... what is he doing to the poor little tortoise. :P

I might need a different attachement for the head, so I can make it thinner. (I was thinking of harriet the dearly departed galapagos tortoise from Australia Zoo... *sigh* to think she was on the Beagle with Charles Darwin.

Hey thanks for the great animal ideas. They are cool. All I need is a Charles Darwin figure. and the HMS Beagle. (Which is the ship he traveled on. It was a 5 year voyage, and he went to every galapagos island.
On the Animals:
Well the tortis was great, but It will be hard to make. LOL
The Iguana, hmm I am not sure. Thats a hard one
I will also need and armadillo. They are so cool
Maybe a couple of penguins. I will also keep a journal with photos and notes, so if you guys are interested. I know Athos is.

Thanks

I really like the little black turtle/tortoise. So simple, may have to whip up a couple of those.

Wasn't it the Beagle?

Well, I have found my turtle, and my ship. This turtle, was really cool, and I have all of the pieces to it.

This is set 6274 Caribbean Clipper. I figure it is the right size, considering the size of the HMS Beagle. It was 90 feet, and this I think is small enough.

That sea turtle looks really good and the right size. For the Beagle, I would make sure that it isn't just the set; add a "below deck" where the guns would usually be, beds and whatnot.
