I am sorry but we are matching the categories to the prizes. I agree that LEGO needs to make a few civilian Castle sets. Convincing marketing and retailers the value of non-conflict play would be hard to do. This is an interesting topic but probably deserves its own thread. Please feel free to start one. Thanks.

Now I may not be correct on these assumptions, but it seems to me that the rules are pretty clear-cut at this point. Pushing those rules probably won't work. In otherwords, building a tower that is six-feet tall probably won't win many votes, even if the footprint isn't that large.

At this point, I think this is going to come down to good old common sense.

What he said.

Something in between a set and a large moc is probably the best way to go.
with this being said; are the mocs that Blueandwhite refers to good guidelines for the size?

Similarly, with towers, I suspect that a tower like DARKSpawn's Hill Top tower is the sort of size the judges might be looking for...

whereas a tower like Brody's excellent Col Du Mont is probably too large for ther category.

Just so those of you who run the contest know, instead of a "Castle Siege" category, according to the entries page we've got a "Castle Siege Castle Siege Castle Siege" category.

Also, some of the links present differing category names as well (ie the Ballista might say "Joust").

I wouldn't win anyways, but I'd at least like to be interested in the contest.
Boo freakin hoo. If you want the sets, enter the contest, otherwise don't complain about it. We just had a contest where there were few rules. Is this contest too challenging for a few of you? Can't work around limitations? Cry me a river.

Gotta love Anthony Sava! Seriously, though, this is true. Enough complaining! I won't go as far as saying no more questions, because I'm likely to enter a couple more myself.

Yes they are.

We are aware of this and will try to fix it soon.

For the Joust category, can it be something not so formal-like a mounted knight figheing a centaur in a joustish environment?

At the least you need a jousting fence and weapons rack along with the two participants.

Sorry if this has already been asked, I just didn't feel like going through all the previous pages.

Can we only use the "good" guys and skeletons as factions?

No, the age does not show up publicly (btw, you're a young'un IMO). That's basically there because there is a minimum age requirement of 13 for the contest.

I have a question about the castle siege. My castle I am building currently has a door, not a portcullis (due to lack of appropriate pieces), is that okay?
Also, instead of a drawbridge, also lack of pieces, I have an arched bridge. Is that okay also?
