Fig Exchange at Brickfest PDX 2007

Post by Remyth »

Hey there CC! This is the planning thread for the fig exchange at Brickfest PDX 2007. Josh has appointed me to organize it, so I will try.

Ok, so, agian, everyone interested in participating please drop me a PM that includes your username, real name, purist or custom(or both), and if you would rather have a 1-on-1 exchange or a Dirty Brickster fig exchange.

A dirty brickster fig exhcange is when you all bring a fig, and put them in a pile, then everyone gets into a circle around them. Next, everyone draws a number (1 through however many people there are participating). Then, whoever has #1 picks a wrapped fig. That person then opens the fig, so everyone can see. The next person can either pick a wrapped fig, or steal the 1st person's. This continues, although only 3 steals can happen before a new present has to be taken. The person with the last number had all control.

I will keep an up-to-date list of people and the vote on this post. Please now direct all discussion of this here.

Purist Contenders:
Remyth
Wunztwice
J1A3L5
JoshWedin
Darkie
Dunechaser

Custom Contenders:
MaxiVisVires

1-on-1: 6 votes
Dirty Brickster: 0 votes

OK! I will update as information comes to me. Thanks!

EDIT: Two *s around your name means I do not know which category to put you under. Please Clarify. You should have a PM.

A Dirty Brickster or what the game is derived from Dirty Secret Santa actually goes like this:

People draw numbers (or have numbers and a number is drawn), the person that's first choses a wrapped item from the pile. That person opens it up for all to see. The next person then gets to choose A) Steal a previous person's item or B) Take a wrapped item and open it. If that person takes the previous person's item, he may then either choose options A or B. Once an item has been stolen 3 items it becomes locked and can no longer be stolen. Once everyone gets an item then the person that went first may trade his current item, for any non-locked item.

This game is a lot of fun, hence why I think Remyth suggests it. I just think it would be better with sets (how we did it at last year's brickfest), especially since some people don't want custom figs. I also believe there will be an official one again this time around.

Well, yeah, that is what I was trying to say, MaxiVisVires. You just explained it better, thanks!

This exchange was originally going to be for purist figs, but if someone wanted to help me organize a custom one, too, they could PM me.

I didn't read anywhere where it said purist only. :P

What I figured was that it would be just like this exchange. Purists trade with Purists, customs trade with customs, and you can do either or both. I suggest just making 2 lists and updating this thread periodically. A week or 2 before Brickfest, randomize partners and then post the pairings on the thread. Pretty much everything else will fall into place.

If the Dirty Minifig exchange happens, I suggest just explaining the rules to everyone and once a comprehensive list of events is posted on brickfest.com, post here the time we are meeting and where (like the castle room). I suggest not doing it early morning or lunch time. Once you get to Brickfest, also post a little post it, reminding people like: "CC Fig Ex at Castle Room 3pm!"

Wow, this sounds like a lot of fun. And I can see a lot of "stealing" happening. Unfortunately I will be able to attend Brickfest, due to living in Australia, but I would like to see lots of photos. :)

Ok! There is only 23 more days untill Brickfest(yeah, I'm counting :P ), and we still only have one customizer. I would prefer to not do a custom fig, so if anyone who is going would like to do a custom minifig exchange with MaxiVisVires, PM me and I will put you on the list. If you are for purist too, you can do both.

Also, if there is anyone else who would like to participate in this exchange, then just PM me with the information stated above, and I will get you on the list.

Ok, that just about does it. I will hopefully have partners up around the 25th. See everyone there!

Hey Thomas, it would be better for me if you could get partners up before the 23rd so's I can throw a fig together before heading home for spring break. I will have a lot of figs with me for BFest, but I would like to be able to make a fig special for the person I know I'm paired with. (if this will shorten the deadline for others to join in, then forget it.)

Thanks!

It would be helpful for me too. Not essential but helpful. Though if its not possible, I understand.

Josh

PS. I did sign up, right? Can't find any message that I did, but I cleaned out my PM box a while back...

I can switch to a non customized fig if need be. I'd just prefer a custom.

Yeah, I probably could. It depends on if I remember and such. I could probably, but I was thinking that gave everybody plenty of time. I realize where you are coming from, though. So... the 21st? I picked it because it is the beginiing of Spring. Ok, that alright with everone?

Maxi.-
If nobody volunteers to do a custom with you, I would appreciate it if you could switch. Thanks.

Josh-
Yeah, you did. I have an up-to-date list of contenders in my first post.

P.S. Looks like we are doing a 1-on-1.

Sorry for the dub. post.

Hey all! Welp, the partners have been decided(completely at random.) OK, they are the following:

Thomas(Renyth)-John(J1A3L5)
Darkie-MaxiVisVires
Chris(wunztwice)-Josh(JosdWedin)

Please let me know if these partners are not acceptable for one reason or another.

P.S.- Maxi, I put you as purist, since no more customs singed up.

Maxi, I put you as purist, since no more customs singed up.
Yup Yup, that works for me.

Are we all going to meet up to exchange the figs at the same time? Or are we just finding each other and trading at our convenience?

I figured that we would just do it this way. It saves me some hassle( :P ), and it is fun to try to find your partner.
