Introducing - The MOCBox

Postby Sir Nelson » Tue Mar 20, 2007 9:49 pm

I came up with an idea for a little container, using the large (Jack Stone) trans-clear panel piece - it's called a MOCBox, and here are a few (okay, ten):

The MOCBox is very easy to make, and is also quite versatile. It can be made to stand on its own, lean like a picture frame, or even hang on a wall. By varying the orientation and depth of the MOCBox, you can create your own design, and decorate it to your liking. In these examples, I have made micro-scenes, artwork, and vignettes as MOCBoxes, even decorating the exteriors on a few. The last one also shows how you can combine MOCBoxes to form a larger one, much like a vignette. It's a very cool way to display your minifigs, rare parts, etc.

I also used the same large panel piece to make a small Aquarium:

Hey Nelson,

These are pretty sweet! I think the Breaking Up one is my favorite.

Very cool Nelson! I just saw these and accidentaly made another thread for them (I forgot the Y-Bros-K is you...)

I love the micro train layout and the forestmen one. The dual layer apartment is nice too...ah heck there's all great!!!

This is a great idea and I will have to try it soon!

Thanks for sharing. :)

Great idea. These could be the next vignettes. If I had any of those panels, I might try one myself...

Genius. As if vignettes themselves weren't an important evolution in building techniques themselves, we've got Sugegasa's V-Pods, and now your MOCBoxes. Awesome. Blogged, naturally.

These are all really great, but I especially love the sense of depth in Break Up and The Hunt. Those big clear pieces almost don't look LEGO...more like display cases (obviously).

Wow, what a cool idea! I will use this for Snow White in a MOC sometime this summer.

This idea is great for displaying figs as well. I love it! :D

An ingenious idea. These are particularly good when you have a display and you don't want anyone's sticky little fingers getting all over your vigs. Once again, great work.
