Announcing the Classic-Castle Story Telling Contest
I hope everything is ok with Lenny... no more complications... Though with a new baby he's probably just busy, though you think he could be reading the stories while he's up all night with the baby.

But the big question is whether the baby would appreciate our stories or not.....Athos wrote:I hope everything is ok with Lenny... no more complications... Though with a new baby he's probably just busy, though you think he could be reading the stories while he's up all night with the baby.

I remember him saying something about teaching a class this semester, so I'll betcha he gets to it after this semester is over. Which shouldn't be too much longer.
And I'm sure the baby loves our stories. What kind of baby doesn't love pictures of little smiling people? Only bad babies.

Is this still going on? I was wondering if its going to be halted this long that maybe I could submit something. Although I know that that is a lot of work, to the already filled Lenny.

Not to nag or anything... but its almost been a year... I'd have waited until it had been a year, but I'll be too busy getting married then...

I remember being on the site a couple of days ago, and seeing that Glencaer was on, so Lenny must still be around somewhere.

As Steve had mentioned (congrats on the nuptials, Steve), today is the one year anniversary of the initial announcement of this contest. Has anyone heard from Lenny in a while?

He hasn't been posting too much (though like you said, he has visited). Ironically, his last three posts have all been in this topic.Lonan wrote:As Steve had mentioned (congrats on the nuptials, Steve), today is the one year anniversary of the initial announcement of this contest. The End of an Era
Well guys, it has almost been a year. Needless to say: teaching + baby has kicked my butt. That isn't an excuse, but an explanation. Sorry to everyone, but here it is: The Winners of the Story Telling Contest
Best Illustrated Short Story (wins Vladek's Castle):
Kazimir by Stephen "Athos" Bishop
Best Comic Style Story (wins Viking Castle):
The White Archer by Amanda "Lamanda"
Best Overall Winner (wins Viking Castle):
The Foundry of Strife by Jim Dugger
Let me say that picking winners was HARD. Balancing between originality/creativity, story telling, LEGO building skills, and LEGO illustrative photography was difficult. Everyone deserves a prize... unfortunately, I don't have that much to send out.
Although it took me forever to judge, this won't be the last story contest. I really love the concept of LEGO story telling and want to see more of them.

Not a day too soon... congrats to the winners.
BTW, shouldn't the best overall story get Vladek's Castle and the Short Story Winner the Viking Fortress?
Funny that none of my three favourites made it though.....
That said I really do hope that if you ever make another (which I hope you do) you'd be more than one judge so that you won't get these absurd delays just because one person has problems. I'm afraid this contest really made my esteem for this site sink quite a bit...
Oh, well, good luck with future contests!

First, Viking Fort has more pieces than Vladek - I figured the overall winner should get the most pieces as a prize, not the least.Maedhros wrote:BTW, shouldn't the best overall story get Vladek's Castle and the Short Story Winner the Viking Fortress?

Regarding your esteem: this contest was my baby and its failure is entirely my fault. The rest of the guys deserve no blame what-so-ever.
