St George and the Dragon vignette-Update: 6/5/07!

Post by Shadowviking »

St George and the Dragon.
Overview
The cave is my first S.N.O.T.ed creation. w00t!
Closeup of dragon. I think I'll add his forelegs, one gripping the edge of the cave...
St George. For some strange reason, I've never pictured him with "knightly" gear, but rather with the more "soldierly" nasal helm and rank-and-file uniform. I'm just weird that way.
The dragon. I'm rather proud of him, until now, I've never managed to make a decent brick-built head. The horns are attached with a white battle droid arm, with Viking horns on it. See the spikes on his back?

Links are to Flickr pictures, there are more. You should at least browse them, there are some building details in there. (If anyone cares)

Questions, Comments, and Constructive Criticism welcome!

God job! I don't know what "S.N.O.T" is though... The dragon is kinda small also.

SNOT = Studs Not On Top.... essentially a building technique that you probably use without realizing it. Tons of topics on it all ready...

God Bless,

Thanks! But could you tell me what you don't like, so I could fix it? This is by no means set in stone as-is, I've already added an Exo-force light brick to make the cave glow. Anyway, glad you like the dragon!

As said, S.tuds N.ot O.n T.op- that's why I added all of the tiles and cheese slopes. As for the size, well you try to get a viking dragon head in that cave! :D  Also, the whole thing was somewhat inspired by this (although, that is certainly a lot better).
'Sides which, that's just his head and a bit of neck, he'd end up at about the size of the old one piece dragons.

Wow, you think it's that good?

Well, you see, that was in fact a conspiracy led by the pope to keep people from knowing that crusaders had been slaying Dragons to keep the professional Dragon Hunters out of a job, as they were starting to rebel. I also have some swampland in the Himalayas for sale. Heheh, thanks though!

Anyway, thanks everyone, it was a lot of fun to build, so it's nice that it's liked, too!
Q,C,&CC... ah, you know the drill.

Hey, great job shadow. I'm lovin' the look of the cave, it looks realistic, but still lego like. Excellent job, top notch.

Very impressive. The way that you can see the dragon in the cave is a clever idea.

Thanks also!

Sorry to double post, but...

Woohoo, update!

I added a light brick, and some claws.

Here is an overall update shot.
Here is a dramatic close-up, perhaps desktop pic worthy. ImageImage

Here it is without the back.

Here it is from the back without the back.

And Here's how the light brick is attached.

Looks really good! I would give it a 7/10 for design and a 9/10 for creativity!
