custom minifigure...
here is a minifig I built today. the minifig is one of the brick-only models I have built...the figure is a samurai warrior.I was inspired partly by the avatar cartoon and anime in general when building the warrior.
here are a couple of quick pictures...
thank you, and please tell me what you think.

I like the way that it looks like he has robes. My only critism is that he looks kinda skinny around the waist.

Your brick-built minifig is very cool. The brick choice is excellent, as it definitely gives the appearance of the minifg wearing a Samurai’s garb/robe. His sleeves are my favourite part. Job well done.

This is really cool, but I agree with Remyth about the waist. Do you have any red or blue rubberbands that you could wrap a few times around it?

Great work. I agree that he looks a little skinny, but the whole concept is very nice. I really like those arms, they are fantastic!

thank you for your replies. I have made some changes to the samurai. I broadened the shoulder /torso area and rotated the legs, I think the sandals and body look better overall this way. I also hightened the figure by one plate. I think this adds to the proportions of the model.
Here is a picture of the modifications...
thank you, and please tell me what you think.

This fig is even better than the first - it looks even more natural and Samurai-like than the original. The use of arched/curving pieces for the robes is great stuff.
When I first saw this, I thought you had cut them out from paper, because it looked so un-brik-like. Very good, natural stuff.
I do agree with the idea about rubber bands around the waist though... although I know anime tends to exaggerate body proportions, I think it might be just a bit too thin there.
Great stuff!

I like the new feet better. Keep up your awesome stuff.
And Supernova, there aren't any modified parts, so it doesn't belong in Customs.

I agree that this one looks better, though the waist still kinda bugs me. Oh well, it is just a nit-pit, and amid such an awsome fig, it hardly comes into account.

Hey,
Actually it belongs in castle MOCs, since there are no modified/painted/stickered parts and a samurai fits into castle (see long discussion on whether ninja counted as castle a couple of years ago). I shift it. I also changed the over-large images to clickable thumbnails. Please don't post pics over 400 pixels in the forum.
Thanks,
Bruce

NICE! It's very reminiscent of Samurai Jack. I like the way you did the arms.
