Awesome deal I got!

Post by Aliencat »

I gotta say, I love buying old castle sets from people who don't know what they're sitting on is actually a collector's item and just want to get rid of old toys they don't play with anymore.

I just got 6080, 6086 and 6090 for $40 each!

I haven't received them yet but from the photos I've seen they're all very dusty, which is good because it usually means they haven't been worn too much. I have been able to make sure they are all 100% complete with all original shields, flags, minifigs, etc.
I'd say that's a pretty sweet deal :D

Would you like to send them to me when you receive them? I'd let you pay shipping.... ;)

You're quite lucky.

At first, I thought you got them all for a total of $40!!

But $40 each for those three large castle sets is definitely a great deal.

I've been trying to get my hands on 6086 for a few years now. I let it slip out of my hands when I was younger (it was clearanced at Wal-Mart for $50.00) I wanted to use my b-day money for smaller sets *grumble*. And congrats on scoring 6090 as well- yet another great castle!

Were these purchased from an online source?

These were purchased through a smalltime Dutch auction site, from a person that just wanted to get rid of some old toys :)
Yes I too let 6086 slip through my fingers as a kid and have had trouble finding one these days, well one that's affordable at least. Of course they have to be 100% complete, and for that nowadays you'll pay easily $150 if not more. This was a very lucky find :)

So far this year I've managed to get hold of the Black Falcons Fortress, two Black Knights castles (Black Monarch's and 6086) and the Kings Mountain Fortress, off ebay, each for a lot less than mentioned by Aliencat. Each had a couple of minor pieces and accessories missing (though some had extras) but I've been able to replace just about all, even a couple of missing knights and a Black Falcon's flag. 6086 was the jewel though - complete with all knights, plumes, accessories - just had one or two bricks missing (annoyingly I'm still stuck for flat grey 2x12s but these should be easy to come by in time).

6080 is top of my wishlist but I'm not willing to pay silly money for it. I've come close a couple of times in bids, so I'll just stick it out. There's no need for me to have it immediately!

Yeah the main thing for me was that they're all 100% complete. I wanted them for the minifigs, shields, weapons, etc.
6086 is indeed a jewel, I think for all of us. But on bricklink the cheapest one that's 100% complete cost $150ish :(
6080 I got mostly for the amount of gray wall pieces it has and the minifigs, the Crusaders have always been my favourites :)

These are indeed great finds. It is also good to see that the Lego has gone to a good home. Rather to some kid who is not going to appreciate the greatness of these sets. – Well done on your purchase, and enjoy your finds.

I wanted 6086 and 6090 since I was getting into LEGO. But when I called the LEGO Group of Companies they said that they were out of production. Darn my brother for keeping the old S@H Magazines and telling me that they just came out. All well, I got Fright Knights after that. Nice deal. I hope to run into sets like those soon. My grandmother goes to yard sales a lot and if she sees LEGO, she buys it for me. So far, I got some Classic Town sets and a Loyal Knight minifig.
