A quick search on Bricklink yielded nothing. I've never heard of the ghost cover being in a color other than Glow.

Should there be a comma in between blue and red?
I've never seen a blue one before but I can tell you that the red one is VERY rare. I've only seen one in Jojo's collection and his was a protopiece (used to check the mold before piece manufacture) which I believe he found in a German thrift store. (I think he had 4 and sold one for like $200 or something crazy) The clear one comes in the new 10176 but the blue and black are news to me.
Best of luck tracking them all down,

When I was a lad my mother told me that if I stood around all day with my mouth open a weasel was liable to mistake it for his den and jump right in. If you have something to say, say it, otherwise, beware of weasels.

Are you sure the black and blue weren't customized pieces?

Actually, the Ghost in 10176 is transparent Glow, compared to the old style opaque Glow.

It might be possible to use RIT Dye to alter the color of the ghost pieces.

The only official (and available) ghost shrouds are the older style glow-in-the-dark color, and the newer one from the recent King's Castle (10176).

The red one is a phenomenon that was found in Germany, and to my knowledge there are only like 5 or 6 of them in existance (JoJo has at least one!).

The blue or black ones were probably painted, or made from a mold like Recluse does, not official at all.

I beleive several CC members were contacted at one point from someone who had a red ghost shroud to sell for $200. If you're serious about finding these, you'd better have the scratch to buy 'em!

I'm gonna go out on a limb here are say both of those are probably self-made parts, in the same vein as Recluse's stuff.

The black one looks painted. It may be a scratch or a dust fiber, but I see *something* odd in the reflective surface.

ohhhhh, lego123 has made his way to classic-castle....

anyway, that aside. The red ghost shroud has long been rumored to be a test part, though many have said he just painted a normal one. The black, however, is new. It's definitely painted, and the fact that it's being shown next to the red makes me doubt the validity of that ever having been real.

On further inspection it seems that there's already been a topic on this here which lego123 has posted...

Hello!

Jojo has one red ghost shroud. And he (erm, me) braggingly had it in his (erm, my) BrickLink store for cheap $20,000. Surprisingly nobody ever bought it. I got some requests by e-mail for selling this piece at a ”reasonable“ price, though…

Later, one of the BL sellers who offer parts in peculiar colours (which parts, by the way, not even Lego knows where they come from) managed to get/make/let make his own red ghost shrouds and offered them for about $200 each. That wasn’t me. I still have mine.

However, I like the story behind my red ghost shroud better than any ”got one from BrickLink for $200“ or ”got some chap at TLC to make me those ‘rare’ pieces” kind of story. Mine at least are original (in the meaning of extraordinary), while those made-for-BrickLink parts are just reproduced. Boring. Particularly because he most likey wouldn’t have made his red ghosts if he hadn’t seen the demand for it sparked by the existence of my red ghost shroud in the first place. Freeloader.

And no, I’m not saying so because I happen to own such a red ghost, but I’d say that about any rare piece that is reproduced for selling purposes.

This also means: No, you can’t have mine.

Bye
Jojo

And here's me having been happy recently just to finally get a peasant's pitchfork, and a black falcon flag to replace the one missing on my castle. (Admittedly I did well as I got both in otherwise useful mixed lots of accessories for just a couple of euro).

In fact, it's only recently I got hold of *normal* ghost shrouds (I've a grand total of three now, one each with two castles, and one spare)! I still only have two old-style skellies as well!

Obviously I've some way to go on my collection :) I think I'll pass on the red ghost shrouds mind you - though the transparent glow one from the newer castle sounds an interesting proposition to look out for.

Interesting tales though. What other pieces/colours fit into the unexplained category though, i.e. possible prototypes etc.?
