My BrickWorld Recap

Post by architect »

BrickWorld was a blast. It was great to hang out with fellow castleheads like David, Leah, Bill, Steve, Bryce, etc. Check out our castle display and many other BrickWorld photos in my Flickr gallery:

LEGO also hosted two Castle Building competitions. Twenty randomly picked fans were chosen to participate in a speed build of Skeleton's Tower. Joe Ellenbecker was the first to complete his entire set:

The second contest was an alternate build with the same Skeleton Tower set. Each fan had a limited time to build a Steampunk creation. Richard Schamus won this contest:

Awesome, thanks for sharing :) Now excuse me while I look around and drool some more ;)
Between plotting to kill you all and chasing balls of yarn, I also build MOCs

That looks amazing. I wish I could have went. It looks like a lot of people were hard at work!

BrickWorld 2007 was an oustanding show! It would have been great to see a few more castle-heads around. We could definitely use more MOCs for the overall display - even though the ones there were absolutely oustanding! Perhaps as BrickWorld grows from year to year a large village will materialize.

Ben, are you saying that LEGO sponsored a steampunk contest?

What were the guidelines? How did they define steampunk? Who's idea was it?

Hi Kevin,

It was an alternate model contest using the new castle skeleton's tower set. They did not announce the building theme until the contest started. Steve Witt chose steampunk so you will have to thank him.

I'm curious to know, does anyone know the time Joe finished in?

I do not know how much time he took to complete the set as I was busy taking photographs. Steve Witt might know. I will have to ask him.
