For my stories?

"Magic" is in reality, advanced forms of science.

I have been writing a history for my Lego kindom, and I use magic in the form of a few wizards and witches. However, the majority of the people, or more acuratly 99% of the people, don't practice it.

In my stories, magic's source, power, and element is determined by gems embedded in something the caster has, like a ruby in a sword pommel, or an emerald tipped staff, or a diamond necklace. here are just a few of the gems and their powers:
Ruby: Fire
Emerald: Nature
Diamond: Light
Amethyst: Healing, commonly used by clerics and priests.
Turqouise: Electricity, not recommended for Mermen.
Onyx: Dark, also drains energy from caster.
Sunstone: Greater fire, risks of suffering blindness or impaired vision after use.
It takes years of practice to be able to draw magic out of these stones. otherwise, they are used in jewellry.

Now that's cool.
...and that's how Equestria was made!

Thanks, here's a few more:
Dragonstone: Necromancy
Opal: Ice
Jade: Defence
Crystal: Gravity (Think LotR, where Sauroman was throwing Gandalf around.)
