Lego failed with Castle in the late 90s. Fright Knights, Knight's Kingdom, etc. It was not good and I would assume it sold poorly as it should have.

Bionicle supposedly sells well. MegaBlocks has a strong medieval theme right now. Maybe LEGO doesn't want to compete with MegaBlocks in a theme where their last few attempts had failed and instead wants to market a product line they think will sell so they can make some money and have something relatively unique in the market.

Of course, I won't buy it if that is what they are doing.

They could always make knights weared Mech-like armor....

I saw this in a Japanese anime called Escaflowne. The giant armor, called "guymelefs" was powered by dragon stones (ruby type stone) and they fought using huge swords, axes, spears and used ballistas as crossbows.

Considering the size of Bionicle weapons... they could work on a new fantasy type of castle theme. Besides, Lego never had real mechas, I don't count bionicle as one... their other robot lines were flops. So they could be trying something totally new.

I doubt that LEGO is doing that, but it's a clever idea.

Escaflowne is actually one of the best anime series I've ever seen. Followed by one of the worst anime movies I've ever seen.

Anyway, we should see what they've got planned sometime in the coming year. I like to believe they aren't stupid, so maybe we will be pleasantly surprised.

I've read all the Bionicle/Castle posts with great interest, because I would love to see some good new castle sets. The one theory I'm surprised no has brought up, is the possibility that Lego will release Bionicle Castle sets AND other castle sets as well. Maybe the sets we are all after haven't been leaked? Maybe they won't be released until the summer? There are a lot of possibilities.

There are still some great sets out there to purchase. Check out the 7416 Emperor's Ship. Two of the three minifigs are great, and the ship is cool too.

The Lego Legend Castle Collection is a great deal at $89:

Plus, these sets have been out for quite a while already. I'm sure there's some new surprises coming once these go away..... Buy them while you can!

You could say true Redaxe. We should take Bionicle and Castle as 2 differerents lines. Castle can't become bionicle. But Bionicle can diverstify it's range of creation: Bionicle, Castle, Pirats, etc.

There is no new castle (and pirats) set for a some years however (Except the blaksmith shop 3794, which can't be consider the same, because it's a MOC).

I'm thinking now that TLC stopped making Castle sets. :( as they did with pirats some years ago.

And you are true when you said that Lego give us again great things, like Orient Express, Star Wars, etc.:)

We just have to hope.
