Vignette - Last Stand.

Post by Doctor Sinister »

Hi there all.

First time poster - a nice chap by the name of Josh suggested I come here having seen some of my Vig's on LUGNET. He thought you guys might appreciate them. I usually hang out at the Eurobricks forum - I've only recently got into Castle stuff as I LOVED this year's range and I have them all now save for the Skeleton Ship which I hope to get this month.

So...here goes... This was my first ever Vig', I made it about a week ago. I've since done others, including another castle one, which I'll be posting in about two minutes!

This vignette is entitled "Last Stand".

The brave warrior held the line valiantly against the marauding skeleton hordes, and even managed to kill one with his trusty sword, but with his comrades all dead, all seems lost and he now faces death himself as he tries to fend off attack with an axe.

The guys at Eurobricks really raved over the first image here, so I made some wallpaper versions for PCS. An 800 x 600 one and a 1,024 x 768 version if anyone is interested. I can do others by request.

Please let me know what you think!

that is sweet, the only one little thing i think is a problem, which is there is too much just on one small square (or a few really small blocks to make a regular small block) but other than that, it is really good.

I wasn't sure if it was too crowded or not, I wanted to get the feel of a pitched battle, the shattered remains of a hard-fought engagement, strewn with debris and bodies.

I have to respectfully disagree. A vignette is supposed to be slice-of-life kind of thing (or slice-of-death in this case :D). I think the huge amount of detail is spot on.

Thanks for the warm welcome.

(I see the images have been changed to links, sorry if I overwhelmed anyone with the embedded pictures to prompt that. )

Welcome to CC, Doctor Sinister. You've got some really great stuff.

The pics done outside are really great, I love the clouds. The landscaping on the vig itself is great, and I like the posing of the figs quite a bit as well. I love these kind of scenes (LEGO or not), or as I call them, "endings".

Coincidentally, the song I was listening to when I first clicked the link was the perfect ending/death theme, despite being rather... sunny.* Like the vig.

I love it, I don't think it's too crowded at all. It's a great scene :)

Thanks. My wife wondered what the Megablocks I was doing laying on my back with the camera in the air taking those first two shots - but it was worth the scorn.

I saw this when you posted it on Eurobricks (I lurk there from time to time ;)) & that first shot is a total win! Awesome.

Crowded? I don't think so either... a nice scene & you present it well.

Well done & welcome to CC, Doctor Sinister :)

You forgot to mention the 1920x1200 version
I look at your vig every day since it is my wallpaper.
Even friends that come to visit are impressed.

He stole that sword from a Knight during the battle - it was a total massacre!
