Window Designs?

Post by davee123 »

Is there a central place for various castle-themed window designs? I looked through the classic-castle how-to's for an article that might show some various techniques for archer slits, etc., but I couldn't find anything there-- and there were seemingly way too many posts to weed through that sounded like they might be relevant. Anyone know of anything?

Hmm,

That would be a good article. Are you interested in writing one? :) I remember a few years ago there was a lot of discussion of arrow slits, and Alan had this summary post with links to several of the designs. Of course there have been many other new ideas in the intervening three years, but that may give you a start.

Tempting!

For anyone considering writing such an article, it might be nice to see a collection of images of *real* arrow slits & windows, as well as Lego representations. I know I've got a few books on castles that show some good images of arrow slits (though scanning and re-publishing would be a likely be a no-no)

A bit-- I was actually using one very similar to the one Dan Siskind had in that thread, but wanted to shrink it down a bit. Plus, I know I've seen other pretty innovative designs with 1x3 arches and things that I wanted to check out again.

I also have a couple designs. I can link to them if anyone is interested.

Here's one I came up with recently:

A purist solution for gothic arch windows. It's pretty cumbersome, and requires a wall that's 3 studs thick (in its present form, at least), but maybe someone here can improve it. I guess it could be cut down to only 2 studs thick if it doesn't need to be visible from both sides. Here are some pictures:
